SIBM Pune -
Amidst the Sahyadri ranges, in the woods, at the base of the mountains covered entirely with trees, well beyond the busy city life lies a home. A home to all kinds of creatures. A home that nourishes the talent. A home where future business leaders are mentored. A home where the cream of the nation intermingles with one another. A home, I call SIBM Pune.
‘WOW’ is the first word I have been murmuring every time I wake up from the bed for the past month. And why not? Not everyone gets woken up by heavenly touch of rainy clouds that surround the hostel balcony. And no one gets to wake up next to the balcony from where you can see the fantabulous view of the entire city. It’s been like I’m on a vacation; so far hectic but a scenic one. And the best part is, I will have two more years to explore on this adventurous vacation.
At the entrance of the campus, there’s a statue of Saraswati; the goddess of knowledge and in front of it is a water fountain. As we make our way to the campus, it is as if nature conspires us to go in the institute, dive in the sea of knowledge, acquire a plethora of new skills, get many experiences and make our knowledge sound as musical as the water fountain.
It is the only educational campus in Western India, which has built rainwater harvesting lake with the help of villagers. This water is circulated across the left right and center of the campus. The majority of the water that comes to our hostels comes from the lake. A perfect model of management for the management students! The lake, which is also recognized by the name of Aqua Point, is home to a variety of rare birds in the season of winter. The only thing to do in campus when you’re too stressed is to visit the aqua point and observe its magnanimity. And the stress would somehow dissolve.
“In the jungle, in the mighty jungle”! While walking on a path that connects mess and the aqua point, there’s always a song that keeps playing on the back of my head. It is rightly so. Because you just cannot predict whom you’d come across with; especially in the rains! There are frogs, peacocks, beetles, snails and what not. Oh wait, did I forget to mention snakes? Yes, snakes too! Lots of snakes with lots of varieties. So at times, the stay on the campus is both fun and dangerous as if we are going on a trek in Himalaya. Well, doing an MBA in such conditions is a trek in itself, isn’t it?
SIBM Pune has bestowed upon us many top-notch amenities. From the gym to IT labs, from classrooms to hostels every single thing is of the highest quality. The playing ground is the icing on the cake. The way it has built is quite amazing. One needs to put in lots of brain in to construct such high-quality multifunctional ground, at such high level with a proper drainage system. Maybe the sports God from above wanted it to be this way, and He often showers His love when He hugs it in form of smooth breeze or misty rains.
Then there are the amphitheatre and the helipad. While on campus, if you need to be alone and tranquil, then these are the places you should always visit. The depth of valley, road lights that seem like a network of fireflies, and tail lights of vehicles passing on the roads give immense calmness and stillness you need.
Because of its scenic nature, SIBM Pune campus has been featured in many films. Bodyguard, Dangal, name it and it is there. Over the time I have realized that the campus has imparted us the power to find our love and passion in our profession and taught us to fight against all the odds.
With the motto of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (World is a family) imbibed on heart, the campus has certainly been a home that unites the family. A home that gives life lessons with actual natural resources. A home where you learn to think. A home that gives strength to rise from ashes. A home that teaches how you live business. A home, I call SIBM Pune…
Which Aditya Birla Group company I would like to work for?
According to ASSCHOM-Resurgent India study in 2017, about 100 million Indians bought online of which E-commerce sales consisted of only 2.2%. This is as compared to 14% and 12.2% of E-commerce sales in the UK and USA where approximately 70% of citizens buy online. With government’s thrust for going digital, E-commerce is the next big thing & there is a lot that we can bank upon. With prior experience in IT & having worked on a local e-commerce site, I’ve a basic understanding of its design & analysis. Hence, I’d like to work on E-commerce part of ADITYA BIRLA FASHION AND RETAIL LIMITED.
