That is what Aditya Birla has done to my life with its brands Louis Philippe and Allen Solly. It has given me the confidence that I could affect and charm the people around me. Truth is that life is about people and social interactions. The more we are liked, desired, loved, respected and complimented the better we feel and the more we enjoy life. Looking better both physically and aesthetically affects our mood and self-confidence and these two characteristics only can be enough to make huge differences in our life. The biggest challenge that I faced in life was when I took over one of the branches of my father’s logistics company The Professional Couriers in Ranipet where the business was saturated. Banks were our major clients previously but the shift to digital had caused us to lose a portion of our business. The documents and cheques which were sent in large numbers started reducing. At the same time parcel service companies in the B2B segment involving bulk cargo were performing very well and had a reduced pricing compared to us. So I decided to bring a change in the structure of the company from B2C to B2B.The parcel service companies in my city had two major flaws, they did not give one day deliveries and they do not have tracking facilities. Our company already had a policy of delivering documents in one day throughout the south. We brought about a new reduced pricing for clients which send more than two tons per month with us. All shipments to the north take two days for delivery when sent by any carrier except for Blue Dart and only Blue Dart provides tracking facilities. The pricing of Blue Dart is very high so we came up with a new service called pro-premium in which shipments are sent through air instead of surface and one day delivery is done throughout India before 12 in the afternoon with tracking facilities and charge one fifth of what Blue Dart charges. We cut through Blue Dart’s market share by 10.5 %. We compensated for the reduced pricing in the bulk segment with the high pricing service in this segment. We went from 5 branches to 7 in the city and established 4 more collection centers in the city taking the total count to 18. We signed two major deals when during the period I was running the company One with Tata shoes and the other with Mitsubishi Heavy Electronics Limited.
