A further 3% of aggregate marks will be awarded to shortlisted female candidates who appear for PI.

Selection Process

• A composite score based on CAT marks will be used to shortlist candidates based on the above weights and criteria.

For e.g. if the scaled score of a candidate is 76 in Quant, 74 in DI and 65 in VA/RC then his/her composite score will be 76(30%) + 74(30%) + 65(40%) = 71

If the candidate is female she gets another 3 Points and the composite score for shortlisting is 74

• This will be followed by Extempore and PI rounds.
• The Final Composite score for selection will be calculated on the basis of Extempore, PI and CAT score, out of 100%.
• An additional 3 Points will be given to women candidates again in this round.

Possible Scenarios:

Scenario 1 - Male vs Female with same CAT scores

A male candidate's scaled score  (not percentile) is 76 in Quant, 74 in DI and 65 in VA/RC then his/her composite score will be 76(30%) + 74(30%) + 65(40%) = 71

A female candidate's scaled score (not percentile) is 76 in Quant, 74 in DI and 65 in VA/RC then his/her composite score will be 76(30%) + 74(30%) + 65(40%) = 71 + 3 (Diversity) = 74

Scenario 2 - Impact of Verbal Weight despite same total scaled score and percentile.

 

A candidate's scaled score totals 200 which is broken as - 65 in Quant, 60 in DI and 75 in verbal then his her composite score is 65(30%) + 60(30%) + 75(40%) = 67.5

If there wasn't an extra weight to verbal -  his/her scaled score would have been 66.3 instead of 67.5 - reward for doing well in verbal

Another candidate's scaled score also totals 200 which is broken as - 75 in Quant + 70 in DI + 55 in Verbal then his composite score is 75(30%) + 70(30%) + 55(40%) = 65.5

If there wasn't an extra weight to verbal -  his/her scaled score would have been 66.3 instead of 65.5 - penalty for doing badly in verbal

Now imagine if you are a female candidate and you do well in Verbal - double reward! Composite score in the above case will be 70.5!

 

We believe male candidates will have to score at least 99 percentile to get a call and score above 99.3 percentile to have a realistic chance of converting the call.
