An engineer from Odisha, Sailesh Hota had picked up a liking for stand up comedy from his college years at NIT Tiruchirappalli. At a time when the comedy circuits across the country were booming, thanks to the rising internet consumption and the hunt for fresh and edgy content, Sailesh found himself enjoying every bit of the stand-up process. From one-off college performances, he started going for open mics and gradually got better at it.

But, this did not last for long. Following the pattern, he took up an engineer's job in Hyderabad and stand-up started to become more of a forgotten hobby for him. Stress and pressure of the regular job and going away from the actual hub of stand up comedy (Mumbai or Delhi) at that time to Hyderabad, made his decision to take a break from comedy even firmer.

However, he couldn't keep himself away from his passion for long. And then came a time when he quit his job, to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. Seeing the ups and downs during this phase of his life, he decided to make a long term career plan along with pursuing comedy.

Sailesh is now on the verge of completing his MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur and has plans to take up his passion to the next level by meticulous planning and strategy.
Tell us in the comment section below about your passion and how you have kept it alive amidst all the hardships.
