M2 going through the folder and I noticed he took out a painting to have a deeper look at it.

M1 What is the meaning of your name? 

Explained how my name came and how it influenced my personality

M1 What do your parents do? What does your sibling do?

Explained

M1 as the eldest son, do you experience any pressure from parents to perform?

Explained no I perform because I like challenges and my peers and I engage in friendly competitive. Mentioned that I have 14 years of academic excellence.

M1 What do your peers do currently?

Explained

M1 Why do you want to do an MBA?

Explained that currently I am aware of tech aspects and want to create value for customers with long-term solutions. I am interested in being a proud man. Prod man needs to be aware of marketing, finance, and other areas of management. MBA course with its academic structure and case-based pedagogy would efficiently provide me with these.

M1 What is the significance of private in the company?

Explained they can't raise money through the equity market and why Mathworks believes in being private.

M1: why does the company go public?

Explained money can be raised 

M1: TCS is a public company but Tata is very rich.

Nudged me towards transparency. Explained that accounts can be manipulated to show profitability and public companies do have to share their info and hence are open to review.

M1: what things have you prepared for the interview? How much have you prepared for the interview?

I have prepared well sir for the interview but the judgment of my candidature is not a thing under my control. IIM Lucknow has the authority to judge candidates and I can work to give my best in interviews.

M2: what did you learn in Aadya?

Explain

M2: in MathWorks what are your primary responsibility?

Explained tech support

Explained how i created the web app in my workex.

M2 do you know to come to Java?

No

M2 what is nextjs ? Nodejs?

Explained

M2 do you enjoy working at your current company?

Yes 

M2 how good are you at maths?

Average sir because there are a lot of things like bessel function that i dont know

M2 you mentioned function what is a linear function?

Explained with examples

M2 gave me a function y=beta^n x and asked if it was linear.

Asked clarifying questions about beta and n is constant and which variables are we talking about.

M2 y and x, beta is constant and n is not.

Tried to explain that y and x are linear but nonlinear in n.

Interview ends.

IIML 7/2/25 Afternoon Slot

WAT: Should Sports, Spirituality, and Stress Management be part of the B-school curriculum?

PI: M1 (30s) and M2 (40s)

m2: Pls give me my personal data form and tmay

me: starts tmay*

m2: you are from IPM? Do you have a secured MBA option from me? Why switch?

me: talked about coming out of my comfort zone, challenging myself, a new learning environment, etc.

m2: I see your grades have dropped from 84% to 76% in 2nd year, why?

me: Talked about my recent increased workload ranging from academics, internships, live projects, organizing the fest, running the quiz club, and case comps.

m2: Yeah but everyone is doing something, no one sits idle at a B-school? 

me: No sir, everyone has some side hustles but I was scattered due to the demanding work in Fest, internships, etc. Got to handle multiple tasks simultaneously although academics were at the receiving end

m2: I see you have studied econometrics, give me the assumptions of OLS.

me: Sorry sir, will look it up after the interview.

m2: Suppose x1 and x2 have a high degree of correlation, what will you do to reduce it?

me: Sir the issue at hand looks like that of multicollinearity as the 2 dep. variables are showing an interacting effect, we can incorporate a proxy variable in the model, if correlation decreases, it indicates it's a good proxy variable

m1: What have you studied in Stats?

me: told about hypothesis testing, standard terms, SLR, MLR, etc.

m1: Give me the diff btw standard and mean deviation

me: told about sd but not MD

m1: write the formula

me: wrote the formula

m1: Why have you taken a square inside the root in the formula

me: Talked about error canceling in case of non-squaring also in case of abs value, differentiability would be affected

m1: What is binomial dist?

me: told

m1: Ok solve this ques, prob of hitting a 6 is 1/4 in any given ball, given prob of hitting 2 sixes in an over

me: Assuming there was no ball, solved the question while talking about my B-school exp at IIMI

m1: We teach the same thing at IIML, you already know this, why to do an MBA

me: talked about a holistic understanding about various domains of management

m2: What you learned in game theory course?

me: Talked about nash eqm, zero-sum games, co-op games, printers dlma, etc.

m1: Give me an example of a prisoner dilemma in the area of businesses

me: Talked about the Beverage industry, the duopoly of Coke and Pepsi, how Nash would be at both co-operating but they could also poetntailly betray and Inc. relative profits

m1 and m2 seemed satisfied

m1: You have studied Spanish for 3 years. why so?

Me: talked about the mandate of learning a foreign language either French, German, and Spanish

m1:  Why Spanish?

me: Talked of it being 2nd most popular language, use cases

m1: But in terms of businesses, you see major companies come from Germany and France, no such company from Spain and Latin America

me: Addressed the issue but talked of it being of my personal choice and I didn't use the B-school perspective in every decision I took in my college

m2: What other calls do you have?

me: Sir all: ABCLKI

m2: I? Why do you want to switch to I?

me: Currently I am an IPMer, if given an opp I would love to attend to the PGP MBA program of IIMI

m2: Is there any issue you all face at placement drives?

me: No issues explicitly but there have been some instances where recruiters have limited the applications only to PGP

m2: laughs and talks about whats the logic of doing this?

me: shared  the smile and talked of the possibility of IPMAT being a comp exam 5 years ago and CAT being a standardized exam happening 1-2 years before so there might be a recency bias while assessing the potential

m1 and m2 share a laugh as company recruitment sometimes doesn't make sense

m1: offers 2 toffees
