MBA is the most opted Post Graduation course in India in the 21st century. I was very particular in the quality of education I was going to pursue when I started thinking of doing an MBA. In India, when it comes to management education, the first thing comes into everyone’s mind is IIM. The IIM brand, the alumni strength all makes the selection of business school easy. When the CAP results were announced, I was confused between the newer IIMs. Almost every IIMs is on par. IIM Raipur was unique in many of the aspects including the support and guidance given by the seniors and the facilities like foreign exchange which is a luxury for all the newer IIMs. The process of IIM Raipur was very transparent. All that made me to select IIM Raipur.
I was very nervous during my journey to Raipur for taking the admission. I still was really very doubtful, since many of my friends pointed out some disadvantages like lack of a permanent campus and all. After reaching the campus spending 2 days, I realised that reasons like having a permanent campus are the most immature statement an aspiring manager can make. Since we people are not in for a vacation; we are here to groom ourselves to fit into the corporate world. I realised the perks of having batch mates from a wide and diverse background and cultures. We can easily gain domain knowledge from almost all the industries, by just simply sit and chit chat in the mess premises. After the classes started, I was able to interact with many seniors and able to be part of many studies and extracurricular groups which helped in gaining knowledge and viewing things from different perspectives.
Being in IIM Raipur is like having a home away from home where we can build a strong relationship bond with the batch mates, seniors, faculties, alumni’s and the corporates. And of course, the new campus coming up in Naya Raipur will be like an icing on the cake. And after a very short span of time, I realised that this is one of the most important decisions that I made in my life.
Which ABG company I would like to work for?
I would like to work with Hindalco Industries Ltd. Hindalco is one of the largest Aluminium and Copper manufacturing company in India. It is one of the pioneers in metal business. As an engineer, I am mostly inclined towards the operations and supply chain domain. I firmly believe that an organization like Hindalco can provide me with enough exposure and knowledge and thereby a great career ahead.
