There are some days which have the potential to turn our lives for the better or the worst. Upon one such day, I found myself sitting in a room along with several others waiting for the same purpose as mine - The VGSoM MBA Interview. We watched in silence as the screen in front of us displayed the room allotment for our interviews. While waiting for our turns, some of us got together and glanced once again through the WAT/PI kit, which was generously shared by the Admission Committee to help us prepare for the interview. We were, soon, called for the interview. I was greeted with a smile by the interview panel, and this somehow helped me calm down my nerves. The interview went on smoothly and was done in about half an hour. On the whole, the entire process was thoroughly streamlined and concluded without any hassle.
The whole interview process was conducted at a number of locations, over a wide range of dates to minimize the hassles and reduce delay. There was full transparency about the admission criteria, which was tailored as per current industry requirements. Great enthusiasm was shown by the AdComm (right from the interview process till the time we joined), which worked feverishly to connect with the all the candidates by forming groups on social media and handling queries on instant messaging platforms. They diligently responded to each and every query on Pagalguy, Facebook and Whatsapp with a maximum delay of five minutes! Not to forget, each candidate had been assigned a mentor from the senior batch, an initiative which offered a more personalised mode of communication. Several pre-induction activities were carried out to give a glimpse of the various clubs and committees within VGSoM. This helped nurture a strong sense of belonging to the VGSoM brand among the selected candidates.
In a few days, I found myself leaving my beloved home and heading to Kharagpur. Upon reaching the college, there was a mixture of feelings (anxiety, excitement, anticipation) rising within me. However, all the anxiety died down as we all received a warm and hearty welcome from the faculty during the batch address, which made us feel more at ease. The present junior batch boasts of students from 21 states and a proportion of over 25% girls. The median range of experience is around 2-3 years. Not to forget, we are also the Silver Jubilee batch of our college!
All in all, life here at VGSoM is extremely fun-filled, and every new day brings with itself a new challenge with it. This is what keeps me going!
