Everything and every person on this planet steps in for a purpose. We all are supposed to live and not survive walking towards the seamless growth for life. Amidst the billions of hearts beating on this Earth and colourful kites covering the bright skies of Indian subcontinent I became a part of humans on 14th January (celebrated as Uttarayan in India) and yet this is not the challenge that I faced ..!! One’s upbringing and general character is nothing but the effect of the ‘Ecosystem’ surrounding the person.
I and all the people, who are part of the Sindhi community (a 2nd highest minority in India), have felt the community diluting in the secular thread of religions and languages. Nevertheless, the only trait that never fades away is the blood of BUSINESS. Our community even feels the pride to be blindly presumed as having a business background only. The problem sowed its seed after my 10th standard exams. I had joined a coaching institute, where I used to prepare for boards, as an assistant teacher due to the urgent requirement of the institute and my inkling towards doing some substantial teaching. After some months, I decided that I want to build my career in the teaching profession and would open ‘Coaching Classes’ at an appropriate time. When I put across this idea to my father, he denied within seconds. It struck me that somewhere while taking pride as largely a Business community, a glass ceiling is developed to push us in our limits.
Like Diwali and period around it is a season of crackers, that of Holi a season of colors, similarly, the vacation period in our community is a season of young boys getting induction training in family businesses. Being a core believer in our community and with denial for teaching, I too started going at my father’s business after 12th boards. Quite confused with whether to continue the same business or start another, my father suggested me to rather study well and take some government job, if not a business. Not willing to jump in the figuratively blood-shed competition of government examinations, I continued my bachelors and started giving coaching as a Visiting tutor to my peers and juniors hideously. My parents wanted me to take up a job in the future and to attain great power of knowledge, I started preparations for MBA Entrance exams.
There again, at that institute, I used to help my peers with their doubts. Just by getting the doubts cleared, they were awestruck with my teaching skills and I was in talks at the center. People started rushing to me and carrying a pile of their doubts, I somehow didn’t realize to focus on my own preparations which led to a grievous failure in my performance. I converted a few colleges, but not up to my satisfaction level. I managed to convince my parents for a re-attempt. It was not long before we had altercations at home that I am not doing any better with my preparations and my father scolded, “Neither did you join any college nor are you working hard now! Also, you don’t feel like coming into the business. What do you wanna do?” In heat of the moment, I agreed to join for business again. And guess what, I got hit once more. My father conveyed easily after a week to continue prep again. It was not a piece of cake for me to change my goals overnight.
Since then, I pulled my socks up and did every possible thing I could do to improvise, from study groups to laborious tasks round the clock. It never symbolizes that I stopped teaching or helping others. I have always believed in taking others also ahead along I channelized all my efforts to the direction where we all rise and shine. That is my way to contribute to the betterment of our lives and make a peaceful world for us to live rather than surviving. Coming to January 2019, I joined as a faculty for giving coaching in Quantitative Ability, DI and Reasoning till May 2019. Gradually, but with firm steps, I have succeeded so far in increasing my level of teaching. Being a teacher made me commit to the dreams and aspirations of others. I set a new benchmark for me by getting converts from several of the top B-schools of our country and a milestone got added in the journey.
Before joining MDI, I was at other B-school where I again gathered appraisals by teaching the basics of Accountancy and Economics officially in a class. My thrive in being there for others never ends. Being a useful part of many lives should be our aim to aspire for a sustainable life. Over the due course of time, I have realized to teach or help others, you need not be a teacher. It’s more than enough to be at the right place and right time with a light bearing potential. It acted as a big leap of faith and zeal for my life and I see my image at better positions in many minds today.
Aditya Birla Group (ABG) also has a long journey, way loner than mine, of rising from grounds and today standing at the apex of not persons but of many nations on a whole serving as a multi-national and multi-dimensional conglomerate serving since 1857. Believing in the welfare of the community and growing steadily and sustainably are few things which I find common in my journey and theirs, while they being at a magnanimously operating scale. Feeling gratitude in the phase of being grown, I and Aditya Birla Group (ABG), share the same set of emotions. It is ABG which has set an example that all these things are possible on scales even beyond our imaginations. To become an inseparable part of billions of lives is possible only when you yourself are “In love with Life”.
