Getting an admit in a coveted B- school like SIBM, Pune was a dream come true. If anyone would have asked me at that time about my expectations from a B-school, my answer would have been clichéd. Little did I know that I was putting my first foot into heaven.
Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune was beyond what I had asked for. The scenic beauty of Lavale hills can mesmerize anyone visiting the campus. The setting of the campus is perfect for our brains to function at enhanced levels and generate new and interesting ideas. The sky serves as a screen for our imaginative projections. The weather here is as unpredictable as the last over of India v/s Pakistan match. From one hour to the next, it is almost impossible to predict whether you’ll need an umbrella or a pair of sunglasses. By overcoming the hurdles posed by this unpredictable weather, we have learnt to face impromptu challenges with open arms, ready to face whatever comes our way.
From always being a day scholar to now being a full-time resident MBA student, I am embracing this new hostel experience. It has brought in me a sense of independence along with responsibility. From studying together to being each other’s family away from home describes me and my roommates in our 3-sharing room.
The college gave me an opportunity to interact with people from diverse backgrounds. My peer learning group includes an embryologist, a psychologist, a CA, a marine engineer, a lawyer and many others. Everyone has some or the other talent and some of the unique ones being doodling, meme-making, ukulele playing and the list goes on. It is going to be a great and unique learning experience with such vibrant talents around.
SIBM Pune believes in Vasudheva Kutumbkam or the world is one family. We have students from various countries like Nepal, Malaysia, Ghana etc. and knowing about their culture and teaching them our culture has been an amazing experience.
The unique induction programme comprising an outbound program and ice-breaking activities helped us to know each other well. The physical and innovative tasks brought out the team player in us. The alumni interactions that take place from time to time give us insights on what industry-specific skills we should focus on.
The seniors have been very supportive. The amount of guidance and support offered by them is commendable. I appreciate their efforts for coming forward to help us to decide our specializations and providing study materials. I believe that SIBM, Pune is the only campus in the country where the seniors help their juniors by going out of the way and making things work for them.
An individual can remain happy at a place in which his or her mind and heart can fit well. The very essence of the campus lies in the fact that each and every person feels at peace once he or she is here.
I look forward to two years of a roller coaster ride that has a lot to teach me.
Which ABG company would I want to work for and why?
If I get an opportunity to work with the Aditya Birla Group, I would be fortunate enough to be a part of Aditya Birla Fashion and retail limited in the branded apparel sector. Fashion is one of the most cut-throat industries. With my prior work experience in IT as a Salesforce developer, I am aware of the importance of Customer relationship management in the retail sector. I aspire to incorporate my prior knowledge along with my learnings from MBA to become an important asset to the company I will work for.
