For most of us doing an MBA, the course will most probably lead to the last “Degree’ in our life. SIBM Pune being a premier B-School, it was always going to fit in directly in my ‘Dream Colleges’ list. All seemed well, SNAP being cleared, finally got a call for the interview round and it was during this 2-day stay for the interviews that I fell in love with the campus at the first sight. SIBM PUNE…. all in big bold letters being imprinted, it gave such a joy just thinking about it….’wowed. This is something UNIQUE’. A beautiful B-School campus located on the hilltop, with all the credentials that SIBM Pune already has, it was a no-brainer why it would not have motivated me to go a few extra miles, give my best and convert the call at any cost. I was determined, for all I had heard till now was how hectic a B-School life was going to be and here I stood thinking how this campus was going to make my life smoother and enriching. There is something with nature that we don’t really get it but get deeply affected by it in a positive way of course, once we surround ourselves with it. Having finally secured admission in this prestigious college and getting to learn the intricacies of management subjects from the highly qualified teachers in the lap of mother nature, I got to realise that it was just a beginning and there was much more ‘uniqueness’ to the college than just the holistic and serene environment that we saw ourselves in.
SIBM Pune is a fully student-driven B-school, where all the activities that affect a student’s life is taken care by The Student Council. The Council is responsible and accountable for all such activities inside the campus. For the aforementioned purpose, the council has got 9 teams, which has members from both MBA 1st and 2nd year. There is uniqueness in the work of the teams as well. For example, the ART(Aspirant Relations Team), which takes care of all the activities involving an applicant, i.e starting from their preparation days to the day of induction in college, has a unique way of going through the whole process. It has got an event called ‘Coffee with SIBM’, where it tries to reach out to the aspirants planning to take SNAP exam throughout the country. They conduct sessions in major cities and give a platform to the students to interact with the SIBM Pune students. They also help them prepare for the exam by conducting mock exams. Again, they conduct ‘iAspire’, which is mainly focussed on giving the aspirants a simulation of a B-School environment through quizzes, case competitions, industry
analysis etc and at the same time give the SIBM Pune students to mentor the students all across the country and in the process, learn to lead and manage.
SIBM Pune is a part of Symbiosis International University (SIU) and as the name suggests, it has got a good mix of Indian and International students and the culture at SIBM Pune as it is, the students are encouraged to mix, collaborate and empower themselves with peer-learning, which give a unique head-start to all the students in terms of experience and exposure. Also, the SIU campus at the hilltop that shelters SIBM as well, has got 8 more institutes under its cover in the same campus and with varied specializations like Banking & Finance, Sports Sciences, Biological Sciences, Engineering, Culinary Arts among others. Not to mention, the interaction among the students hailing from these institutes in and around the campus leads to discussion having diverse outlook and enriched learning experience. So, this is also something that SIBM Pune can boast of having, ‘an entity of uniqueness’ being attached to it.
An emotion…An experience...A Learning centre with a soothing, naturopathy touch…this is how SIBM Pune is and will be to us..A place defining ‘Uniqueness’ in its own terms.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
ABG (Aditya Birla Group) is a name that most Indians identify themselves with, for its product qualities and reach in most fashion and retail segments. This is a company that has kept the name of India right there, among the top big corporates and industry bigwigs. I am doing my MBA in Marketing and would like to work in ‘ADITYA BIRLA FASHION AND RETAIL LIMITED’. I want to be associated with the brands under this company and work towards taking its rich legacy of ‘performance and quality’ forward and this is the reason why I want to join it.
