I would like to share my complete MBA application experience with SJMSOM, IIT Bombay. Firstly, some details about me: I'm a GEM with 2 years of work experience and a 99.5%ile in CAT 2020. Now back to the topic at hand, the last date to apply was 31st January 2021. On 17th February, I received a mail intimating that I had been selected for personal interview. On 22nd February, I received a mail with my slot details. On the next day, I was assigned a buddy to whom I was free to ask any queries regarding interview, admission and any other general questions about SJMSOM. The buddy assignment mail also had a list of documents that we had to upload by 28th February. All candidates were also added to a telegram group with the Admissions team so that we would all get timely updates and are able to resolve any queries quickly.
The interview was to be conducted on a platform called ‘Gather’. We received a mail on 28th Feb with all the details and demo videos about the platform so that we could familiarize ourselves with the platform. Gather is one of the most intuitive platforms I’ve ever used, It seamlessly simulates being in an actual auditorium by giving each user a customizable avatar using which they can ‘move’ around in the virtual auditorium. There were separate rooms for document verification and personal interview. Each candidate was in a group of 8 people and both document verification and PI were being conducted simultaneously for different candidates to reduce time waste.
The interview call was held on the Zoom platform and it lasted about 12-13 minutes. The panelists were very friendly and I was asked questions about my work experience mostly along with some current affairs questions.
After the interview was done, I went back to the auditorium and informed the group coordinator and was allowed to leave.
