Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
“Your success is directly proportional to the number of lives you have touched for the better.” – Vishwas Chavan
This could be perfectly addressed to Aditya Birla Group which is the first name that comes to our mind when we think of Indian multinational conglomerates. This massive organization operates in 35 countries and employs a total of 120,000 people worldwide. This great organization finds itself in the top of the dream workplaces for many aspiring managers.
Aditya Birla Group has various brands spread throughout the market. The group has vested interests in metals, cement, carbon black, telecommunication services, fertilizers, chemicals, branded apparels, BPO and IT services. The spectrum of their presence in the Indian market is huge and overwhelming swinging from Ultratech Cement to Pantaloons.
My life has been influenced by Aditya Birla Group in various sectors over the course of my life. I would like to start from my current predicament wherein I am a MBA student of Xavier Institute of Management and as we all know the importance of business formals which probably are put to use more often than ever. So when I had to buy my business formals, my first choice was Van Heusen as it’s a superior brand in terms of its quality. There are but a few who can compete with the strong brand name of Van Heusen.
Secondly, another important aspect of my life is my daily communication requirements, be it making important calls or calling my family or surfing the internet, the high speed mobile internet services have been a real boon for me. The high speed internet services with affordable and alluring pricing offers has helped me to use my Internet to fuel my thirst for research and reading habits.
I am really fond of sea food and never lose an opportunity to savor some really good sea food, but when it comes to this category of food, they are susceptible to losing natural fluids and become putrid very fast. The Aditya Birla Chemicals located in Thailand has addressed this problem by introducing the Pearl range of phosphates and non-phosphates which bring additional benefits in seafood processing and ensuring their sustainability and longevity. This group of phosphates and non-phosphates improves the water holding capacity, inhibits micro bacterial growth which in turn enhances the tenderness and texture of seafood.
Lastly, back in the year of 2013 when the construction of our house concluded and we finally had something to call as “Our Home” and the pure joy that ran through my veins was unmatched. The material that bound the house was Aditya Birla Group’s largest brand Ultratech Cement.
Aditya Birla Group has truly been influenced my lifestyle, my dressing sense, my food and what not. Thus Aditya Birla Group has been really big in life!
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?
Every one of us at some point of our life might have wished that our life had panned out like a movie. Well I can say with absolute veracity that no one had their life become a movie but maybe we are wrong, at-least I would like to contradict this notion.
Rolling back to my childhood days, I was home-schooled for around two years because I was a timid kid who was bullied a lot. I was a studious kid, always listening to my parents and learning what was taught to me, so when I was enrolled into Loyola School, Bhubaneswar it was a steep task for me to come out of my shell and actually make friends and interact with people of my age. Well slow and steady I succeeded in gelling with the other kids and finally made ‘friends’, actually a small correction ‘good friends’. I realized that it is not that difficult to interact with people and thereafter I never faced any troubles in socializing and making friends and that is my first challenge that I overcame.
Talking about academics and studies I never faced any problem, I always secured the first position in my class since nursery to seventh standard. The consistency of these events made me think that I cannot be dethroned, but I was so gravely mistaken when I failed to secure the first position in the subsequent grades. I learned the hard way that it is not a cake walk but a competition and I was yet to realize the severity of this competition. I graduated my tenth standard with great grades and I was ecstatic and so I was my family.
Moving onto the next chapter of my life and these two years have been the most difficult for me so far. Owing to my great grades in tenth standard I opted for Science stream for my +2. I thought I could handle it but I was as far from reality as the Sun is from the earth. I started my +2 with the same dream as countless others that is to get into the premiere Engineering Institutes of this country, namely the “Indian Institute of Technology”. The starting was rough as I could barely understand Physics and this particular subject tormented me for the major part of my two years. I started to degrade in Mathematics as well and Chemistry was the only subject that helped me get decent scores in practice tests or National level tests. Subsequently my grades in the normal school took a hit and I was really struggling to cope up. The illusive idea of me being good at studies was starting to shatter and I could see the ‘severity of competition’ crystal clear and where I stood.
Well it was a scary reality check, but I never gave up, I buckled up and put in more effort and gradually it started bearing fruits. I was doing well in my school curriculum and my scores in JEE based practice exams were also improving. I had given up everything in doing so be it my love for quizzing, friends, recreational activities that I enjoyed. These two years levied a heavy toll from me. Although I didn’t get into any IIT, I managed to get into Metallurgical Department of National Institute of Technology, Raipur. I was fairly satisfied with my achievement and made up my mind that, yes, your college does matter but if I be sincere and put in effort I can excel here as well.
To learn that, things do not always pan out the way we wish, but it shapes according to the way we work for it. I carried this lesson with me throughout my graduation and it helped me to achieve a lot of things. Firstly I was able to switch my stream from Metallurgical Department to Electronics and Telecommunications, which was the stream I wanted to study. I learnt a lot of things during those four years of under graduation. I learnt to balance many things at the same time be it my academics, the committee work I was involved in. I developed a liking towards research and this helped land two great internships in IIT Kharagpur and IIT Bhubaneswar. I had a few difficult subjects in my stream, generally the ones related to Telecommunications. I tackled this issue by making myself read more and gain more in-depth knowledge of those subjects. I graduated with good grades and besides that my under graduation life had many hardships as in acclimating myself to a new place, new people, food but I overcame those short-comings and at the end of four years I have been transformed into a completely different yet better human being.
I am currently pursuing my MBA in Business Management stream in Xavier Institute of Management and to be honest it was a sudden and difficult decision for me not to accept Deloitte’s job offer and pursue my MBA. I may be lacking in the experience department but I would surely love to implement my principals I have used so far to achieve my ambition of getting a good job and also make a better professional out of myself.
