IndiGo Q3 profit rises 24% to Rs657 crore
InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, the owner of India’s largest and most profitable airline, said third-quarter profit rose 24% because of cheaper fuel prices and buoyant demand for travel on local routes.InterGlobe Aviation, in its first earning release after its initial share sale, said net profit rose to Rs.657.28 crore for the three months ended 31 December from Rs.531.56 crore in the year earlier, beating analysts estimates. Indigo also reported the highest quarterly profit before tax since its inception.
Axis Bank shares climb over 6% after December quarter results
The stock touched a high of Rs.412.40 in intra-day trade. Gains on the stock were the steepest since 28 February 2015. At 10.24am, Axis Bank was trading at Rs.408 on BSE, up 5% from its previous close, while India’s benchmark index Sensex rose 0.3% to 24,134.30 points.
Foxconn offers $5.3 billion for Sharp, plans to keep management
Taiwan’s Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd, also known as Foxconn, has offered ¥625 billion ($5.3 billion) to buy Sharp Corp. and has no plans to replace top management, a gesture aimed at reassuring Japanese authorities worried about an overseas takeover, the Wall Street Journal reported.
