MBA is a short route (as assumed) taken by many to get the Middle and Higher managerial jobs which can help you grab huge salaries and make you work in the companies you desire and the role which you want to take up in your professional life. The first step towards such jobs is what summer internship is all about.

It all started with the hectic and rigorous process of appearing in interviews of lot many companies both in the college as well as off-campus college drives and the moments of disappointment that had to face due to rejections. It was then I applied for the Summer Internship recruitment drive conducted by Candor Techspace a venture of Brookfield Properties in India.

The recruitment drive was such that I had to go through multiple rounds of screening of which the first was we had to submit a PowerPoint presentation of a case solution which involved solving a hypothetical case related to a sales issue facing by a company. Getting through that round I had to appear for a Skype Interview with the HR Manager of Brookfield Properties and then the final round was a discussion round with my would-be mentor on the project I had to undertake during my internship with the company and immediately after my interview my mentor came up to me and shook hands congratulating me for joining Brookfield as a summer intern in the Business Development Department of the firm. It was surely a moment of pride and satisfaction for me getting selected in 96 years old American real estate MNC.

I joined my internship on 11th April and the very first day I had a meeting with my mentor who was General Manager of Business Development and with the Zonal Head of the firm who briefed me about how I have to go about my project. My project was divided in two phases of which the first phase was mostly the B2B sales wherein I had to go to the various office micro markets around Delhi-NCR and get the list of IT/ITES companies functional which included startups and other BPOs, KPOs, FinTech and captive units for which I had to meet the management of that office park to convince them for getting the information of these companies. The second phase of my project was to conduct a secondary market research on these IT/ITES companies to get their Asset Management handlers and search for the contacts of the CXOs of these companies who could be the potential clients of the company.

My mentor used to sort these IT/ITES companies for me the day I used to submit my database which I used to make after the field visits. Throughout my internship he supported me a lot be it in the situation wherein I suffered from Medical issue or troubleshoot issues concerning to my project.

It was a great experience throughout my project with Brookfield and I got to have a lot of corporate exposure and got to learn a lot about Sales which is something a Marketing guy should have a hands-on experience with before joining a company after MBA.
