When in a B-school, one ends up meeting individuals with diverse backgrounds. The first few weeks of classes can be both humbling and enlightening as you meet people who are smarter, more experienced, younger, older and most importantly who leave a mark on your mind within those first few weeks.
Here are four of my batchmates whom I would like to introduce.
1) Shrijoo A Kanoria
Shrijoo is as unique as her name is. A psychology graduate, Shrijoo has worked as an assistant counsellor at the Sankalp Rehabilitation Center, Vasai, Mumbai. She enrolled for a course in graphology at the age of 14 out of sheer curiosity. This eventually led to an insatiable interest in the field of the human psyche and the motivations and causes behind human action and behaviour. Interestingly, she has dabbled in travelling for the same reasons that she took up psychology- To learn more about people, where they come from, their backgrounds, their cultures, their stories-and ended up travelling to places like Egypt, Indonesia and UAE. She is one of those confident personalities who likes being challenged and takes every challenge as an opportunity to grow.
2) Alokik Kumar
He is by far the most dramatic and inspirational person I have had the chance to meet. At the age of 27, he decided to change his career path from a full time mathematics professor to a management student. But this is not the first time he has taken the reigns of his lives in his hands, twirled them around and changed the direction of where his life heads. He is a mammoth of talent with unaddressed strength. With his abilities to sing, play guitar and brighten up your day with witty one liners, he is easily the most loved batchmate of us all.
3) Sahej Pal
Sahej embodies the Punjabi spirit to the T. Born in an army family, he has lived in states like Mathura, UP, Delhi, Pune, J&K, Kolhapur and Manipur and visited a lot more. Part reason for his being the brightest smile of all is probably his extensive sports background which ranges from football, basketball, cricket, squash to golf. Sahej is that one go to person with whom you can discuss about cinema, religion, politics and the ends of the world and feel at home.
4) Akshay Bhat
As kids, we all have heard stories in which there is that one nice person who has a heart of gold. I was and still am in awe and wonder of how good he is, because being good is as easily said as it is difficult to find. Akshay Bhat hails from Jammu and Kashmir. His love for his mother encouraged his interest in the lessons she taught on music and he eventually rose to be a playback singer. But more than his honey smeared voice, his pristine heart bowls everyone over.
Which ABG company and why?
ADITYA BIRLA RETAIL LIMITED:
The legacy of Aditya Birla Group is unparalleled and working with a company like it will broaden my horizons and increase opportunities in the sector I am most interested in - Fashion Industry. Fashion and retail is a fast-paced domain. It is a challenging sector with immense growth potential. I believe my interest and personality line up well with this sector. I am comfortable with people and a fashionista in every sense. I'm also anxious to learn more about fashion retail marketing and customer service.
