How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
Challenges are the part of everyone’s life. Same has been for me. I was always passionate for Mechanical Engineering but the biggest challenge was the financial constraint. To overcome this challenge, I somehow managed to get good score in my HSC examination which helped me to get admission into one of the top engineering college of Gujarat with minimal fees. After the completion of my Engineering, I was offered a job at Adani Gas Limited in Operations and Maintenance Department. Within just four months of joining, I was given the responsibility to handle the store and inventory management activities for CNG apart from the O&M activities. This task required much dedication and high level of responsibility. In the history, only the senior level employees used to manage it where as I was given this responsibility when I was just a Graduate Engineer Trainee. This was the biggest challenge for me since it was a highly responsible task and it required 24*7 on call assistance. I started to learn the processes, spent time in the stores with the store workers, consulted my superiors and slowly started to manage the process. I left my comfort office desk and started to spend much of my time at the stores because the learning we get working at the ground level with the workers cannot be learnt sitting in the office. Soon, I excelled at managing the store and successfully managed three inventory audits with zero deviation. After working for few years, I had an ambition to pursue MBA. To pursue it, I enrolled for a crash course of CAT. Managing job and CAT preparation parallel was also a challenge. For six months, I gave up everything to focus on studies. Classes early morning followed by a 9 hour job and again tests/classes in evening and study at night. This was the phase which taught me multitasking and time management skills.
