Every human being in this world has his/her own individuality and he/she has his/her own way of living. However, in today’s competitive world, only the ones that can distinguish themselves from this broad and general category are the highly successful ones. And any person, who has the ability to be very patient, is hard working and has enough self-motivation, is also most likely to be the highly successful. An internship with a company, which is well established, is a brilliant source of knowledge. Firstly, I will be able to physically see and experience the concepts that I have learned throughout my life. This provides me a chance to reflect upon what I have learned in the past. On the other hand, I will be able to gain some very important insights of working with senior officials in reality.
I was looking for internship with an e-commerce firm, which promises great learning experience and provides self-ownership of the project. I wished to develop my managerial, conversational and professional skills during the course of the intern. The time I spent in Aaskme.com as an intern was a memorable one for me as it was rich in experience sharing and helped me discover my potential. I have had so many rich experiences and opportunities that I personally believe will forever shape and influence my professional life while fostering personal growth and development.
We had 8 projects to choose from and I picked “Devise strategy to maximize the penetration of SKUs and strengthen and streamline the delivery network pan India”. The project was important because Grocery was started by Askme just 8 months ago and I was given one of the important responsibility which had direct cost benefit to the company. I visited more than 40 hubs across 4 cities, experienced the whole supply chain. I got the opportunity to interact with the delivery executives, hub manager and zonal operations managers to understand process and snags encountered by them. I did data analysis using Access and Ms Excel making observations and suggesting improvements for reducing the turnaround time and cancellation of orders. I learned about ‘Six=Sigma’ approach and TQM (Total Quality Management) using professional tools.
The best part of my experience was flat work culture, which gave me the opportunity to interact with the senior-most employees whenever required; free hand given to work on the project (giving sense of ownership), companies willingness to try out the suggestion and recommendation. The support and insights provided by the senior leadership was unparalleled.
Every day going to the office was fun filled with new challenges and opportunities to be explored in the new arena.
