While it has now become a mandatory part of all corporations who wish to establish themselves in the market of today, the real heroes are those who have been contributing towards a better society from even before it was a part of the public image. One of those few is the Aditya Birla group, who along with other areas of social development has been a major contributor in women empowerment in the Indian society. One of the major challenges faced by the rural women during menstruation is the lack of closed bathing spaces that ensure privacy. To tackle this issue, the Aditya Birla Group has been involved in setting up 20,000 toilets across India as a part of helping the government’s open defecation free villages endeavor, which has been a great contribution to women’s health. Not only this, through their healthcare centers and hospitals, they have also provided reproductive healthcare and awareness to many rural families. Proper education is the first and most important step towards ensuring women empowerment. With 42 schools across India, the Aditya Birla Group imparts quality education to over 45,000 students. Many girls are denied the right to education due to the lack of financial resources in their households which leads to the absence of many means. To ensure that such obstacles don’t hinder the growth of the women of tomorrow, the Aditya Birla Group supports 20 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya that are residential schools for girls.
How I overcame Challenges to achieve my ambitions in life?
Education has always been an important thing for my family. Since childhood I was instilled with the ideology that education gives us a knowledge of the world around us and helps us developing a perspective of looking at life. I was always a bright student since my kindergarten and got a tremendous support from my parents. However, Life had casted a shadow of darkness on our lives when I lost my father and since then difficult times embarked which prevailed for quite a long time as we suffered from financial crisis. My mother has always been supportive and I owe a lot and I am so privileged to have a mother like her. I wanted to do engineering when I passed my 10th standard and considering the financial situation we had I knew that the only possible way to get my ambition fulfilled is to get into a government college. I did not go to a coaching institute but I was blessed to have teachers to help me with my doubts and queries and clearing all the required concepts. I wanted to get into IIT but did not score well enough in JEE but I was determined enough to do well in AIEEE. I secured 10th rank in state and got admission in NIT Hamirpur in Mechanical Engineering. I have always believed one thing in life since then that no matter how many obstacles comes your way but if one is determined enough to fulfil his/her dream, success is sure to come his/her way.
