Second, ABG’s telecom venture Idea cellular which on 31 August 2018 Idea completed its merger with Vodafone India and thereby became largest telecom company in terms of subscribers and revenue, surpassing Airtel. It ensures that we have hassle free to and fro communication with our family, friends etc. In this modern world of technologies, the 4G internet ensures that we get uninterrupted internet connection which I believe is now one of the most essential requirements in our everyday life.
Third, being an MBA student, I am pretty well versed with the significance of formal wear and business formals. ABG’s companies like Allen Solly, Peter England, Van Heusen and Louis Phillipe provide us an exclusive range of products in optimal price ranges. I vow all the formal clothing purchased by me as a courtesy of the Aditya Birla Group.
Fourth, UltraTech Cement India's largest cement company speaks for its volume. It has been a regularly and widely used cement for various construction works. UltraTech Cement has been the solid backbone for the construction of our house.
Fifth, in the food sector, Frewshwrapp Aluminum Foil of ABG has ensured that my food is always kept fresh and hygienic. The company has been successfully achieving its goals now for around 15 years which in itself is a remarkable achievement.
Sixth and he most important part being ABG’s measures in serving towards our society and country not only economically but culturally as well. ABG group has also established numerous Birla temples in India with magnificent and aesthetic architectural designs. Its location is planned in such a way that it can accommodate a large number of visitors. I have personally been to the Laxmi Narayan Temple also known as Birla Mandir in Delhi. It has an astonishing architectural design with a very tranquil and pleasant ambience for religious discourses. Its CSR initiatives in Healthcare, Education, Infrastructure and its actions in making model villages i.e. transforming the underprivileged villages with sustainable developments is indeed a stepping stone towards a better society and country.
This is how Aditya Birla Group is big in my life.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
Challenges in life bring rigor and determination. I wouldn't have known if I wasn't forced to sit for the board examinations with a broken limb and the sky-high expectations of my parents and teachers.
At school I was known as a bright student who performed well in both curricular and extra-curricular activities including sports such as lawn tennis and chess. But, bright or no, the board exam of tenth standard, as it was then and is now, is a time of awful anxieties. One feels as if the whole world is watching, and trust me, it does.
April 2009. Two days before the exams were to start, I met with an accident and was injured all over. But it was the fracture in the right wrist which left me, well, actually, with no clue. To sit or not to sit for the exam was the question. The second would have meant the loss of a valuable one year and most importantly, the loss of mental well-being. Suggestions and advice poured in from all quarters as I veered between the classic flight or fight mode. Finally, I chose the second, thanks to my parents who suggested that I take the help of an amanuensis (scribe).
To take the help of a scribe for writing your answers requires a different skill-set altogether. I imagined all sorts of problems: that I wouldn't be able to dictate the right words for so long, that the scribe may not be able to write as desired, that I would struggle with my thoughts and that the scribe would simply pass something over, which I might not notice.
A challenge is a call to prove, an opportunity to declare one’s eligibility for navigating life’s problems, an invitation for an intense engagement with one’s own fears and weaknesses. That day I had none to compete with but myself. I did sit for the exam, along with my friend for the day. Eventually, I scored a wonderful 93.6 %, the highest anyone had scored in CBSE Tenth till then, taking the help of a scribe. However, the score was less important than the distinction I acquired for taking on a tough situation.
The risk-taking ability and the never give up attitude were my point of determination and motivation. Challenges helped me in shaping up my will power and perseverance traits. The most important part being they test our adaptability and toughness towards a disagreeable situation. The ideal reaction towards a challenge should be testing yourself so that you become a better version of yourself with each passing challenge and achieve ever newer heights.
