How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far
Challenges are one of the most unwanted things to talk about when they come and are one of the most cherished when they go by. Challenges are the tools which prove our mettle and show who we really are in times where we need to put more than our best foot forward. While working at Ericsson, I was faced with a challenge of delivering a project for Movicell at Angola in one week. The project was a drive test and cluster optimization of the 4G network across Movicell. Since I was made the project lead by my manager, I chose my team of 4 members since in that short span of time if too much time is spent on coordination, we would miss our deadlines. The team members chosen were senior to me as I needed their experience and expertise. Next when it came to dividing the work, I assigned one geographical area to each of the member because 4G nodes of similar geographical areas would show similarity in their KPI and hence optimization results. This would make their work easy following the principles of the learning curve in economics. For the following 7 days a plan was drawn to keep the focus majorly to completing the work and the bare minimum to customer calls and updates or meetings. I, with the help of my manager, managed to convince the project manager to schedule no calls during these 7 days and updates would only be restricted to mails via me at the end of the day. We managed to finish the project by working relentlessly before the deadline. We were hugely appreciated by the top management including our the then Vice President of Ericsson India, Jaspal Singh. I was awarded the ACE Award, which is the highest award for project delivery requirements for my performance and as a team lead too.
