“I deserve better”. This is the only line I remember myself saying time and again. Surely that’s what kept me going through all phases of my life. Always striving to do better. And I had to, life can never be consistent, to anyone. That is a well-accepted truth. Yet, for some, it’s a little more difficult to stay on the track. Why? Because we all have a “fire in our belly”. Ready to do something. To work hard. To achieve. To be content. But, achieve what? Now that’s where I would say some are luckier than the others. To have a dream that you can turn into a goal with your vision is the best thing a person can own. Many have that sorted early in their lives and many are still lost searching for it.

I have been lost too. For quite some time. 20 year old and cannot fathom what to do with her life. Going along with the tide. Hiding behind academics, not for the fulfillment of a certain goal but to avoid thinking of one. Yet, there is still a fire in the belly that did let me sleep until I figured out what I really wanted to do.

So, while doing my Masters in Microbiology, I suddenly called my friend and said, “I don’t want to do a Ph.D., I want another Masters degree. I want to do an MBA.” My friend asked me to go to sleep. It was 2 am, but I was pumped. You don’t need to travel the world to find your calling, at times it just in front of your eyes. So was mine, a cup of tea. I won’t bore you with the details of what I plan. Soon you may read about it. But there I was. Finding that calling and ready for some action.

It's not a juicy story. Claiming to have worked hard to get into an MBA college, being a bio-student, whose brain turned mushy hearing the word “Quants”. Many have done it. So, have I. But the journey is one’s own juicy story. Working hard to get into a good college when everyone is doubting your capabilities, your vision and asking why I turned down a good job in a whim. I would tell them the same as I told myself, “I deserve better”. I had done it before, getting that first Master’s degree, while coming from a different background. All the while struggling to match with your peers who have prior knowledge. Worrying about your grades, when suddenly my mom falls ill and my father is far away. If I can manage to take care of my responsibilities as a daughter and sister back then when managing my research and college. I can achieve my further goals too. All I have is faith in myself and it has never disappointed me it.
