Life was simple and carefree until high school. It all started as I stepped my foot into my intermediate days when i wanted to be a part of the race for the IITs and NITs. As the days passed and the timeline for the exam seemed closer, the pressure seemed unbearable. Those were the days where we had to focus on both the school curriculum as well as the Jee syllabus. But soon after all the mayhem of the exam, I realized it was time to forget about the IITs as well as NITs.
I entered a new phase in my life as I moved away from my home for the very first time. The college I got into was known for two things: Firstly, it was the best govt. college of my state and Secondly, it was well known for ragging. Moving out of my comfort zone and the fear of ragging kept horrifying in my mind. Being homesick I had to figure out ways to face my challenges on my own. But sooner I realized I was adaptive and been subjected to ragging for 16 long months had built a strong bond with a lot of my seniors.
Challenges kept coming in. But the long 16 months had taught me a lot of ways of dealing with things. From being an anxious person on how to conduct myself on stage to hosting events everything changed as I conquered my fears with the help of seniors, batch mates and guidance from teachers. As I entered into the last year of college, campus placements started flooding in. But unfortunately, I didn’t make it to any of the companies. Adding to this worse situation I didn’t get into a premier B-school. But the long four years taught me not to give up on my ambitions.
After my four years of life learning and fun, it was difficult to bid farewell to my alma mater where it made me a better individual and ready for the outside world. Now it was time to invest completely in my ambitions of life. The first two months were pathetic and I was confused about whether to join a job or move forward with my decision on getting into a premier B-school. In this phase, I discovered my passion for travelling and animals. This was the time I got connected with an NGO which looked after the welfare of animals. With persistent hard-work and dedication, I started to get fruitful results. After a year of struggle, I finally made it to one of the top B-schools in India.
The first month in NMIMS has taught me that there is no room for shortcuts. Until you test yourself to the maximum possible limit, you won't be able to extend your breaking point. I am looking forward to a great journey of 2 years with this prestigious university.
If I would have to sum up all the things that I have learnt until today is by emphasizing on the good aspects of failures and thinking failures as the preparatory time required for future success. This has actually made me the person I am today.
