Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life ?
Aditya Birla Group has lot of successful business into so many sectors and geographies across the country so each person in India is bound to witness and experience their activities and variety of products. Personally, two business of Aditya Birla Group, i.e. Pantaloons & More Megastore has a big impact on my life.
I have my roots in tire 2 city which don’t attracts many big business or brands to come there easily, may be due to less exposure and lower disposable income, but More Megastore came there a decade or so back with their offerings of Hyper-mart and created a structural shift in the city as how people shop. It was one of a kind experiences to get all your needs under one umbrella at that point of time. It made life of the people very easy and comfortable. Soon after ABG also opened Pantaloons outlets in the city, which became my go to place for apparel needs due to quality and value for money products being offered.
What fascinates me more about ABG today is how they managed to get almost all of the major apparel brands in India, such as Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England etc. under group's firm Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Ltd. In my opinion, Vodaphone-Idea merger in recent time was a very strategic move by Aditya Birla Group which made them largest Telecom Operator in Company and in coming time it’ll have major impact in this sector.
So, Aditya Birla Group impacts millions of lives every day with their business strategies and wide offerings which in turn gives progressive boost to Indian economy.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far ?
I have faced few challenges to achieve my ambition in the life so far, both during my student life as well as during my brief work-life but the one that comes first in my mind whenever I think on this subject is the very first challenge that I faced during under-graduation.
I have been a person who like to utilize the academic learning to some practical aspect and learn in the process. I saw one such big opportunity during my graduation. There is a National level Technical corporate competition, EngiNX, organised by Tata Consultancy Services for Engineering Students to give them opportunity to come up with innovative solution for some day-to-day life problem which can be institutionalized.
I led a team in EngiNX 2014. This was the very first time that any team was participating in this competition from my college. I came to know about EngiNX through online portal but the challenging task was to form a team as everybody was focused on placements, being in the final year. I managed to convince few of the batch-mates that, we are leading a new path for us as well as college and upcoming batches. After forming a team, the next challenge was to manage it effectively. Everyone had different point of view and different skills. What I learned is, for team’s success the most important thing is to listen and understand each and every person’s view. Talk with them, give them proper understating to others view if according to you, it’s a better path. Rationalize decision making. Don’t let anyone feel neglected because ultimately it falls on the team’s performance. Give an equal chance to everyone because best idea can come from anyone. In the end, we were able to reach to top 5 national finalist teams out of 1300 teams from across the India.
