Why Aditya Birla Group Is Big In Your Life

My first ever industry experience was at Grasim Industries. It was a three-month internship in the summer between 2nd and 3rd year of my undergraduate years. I remember getting off the train at Nagda station scared and nervous. But as soon as I entered the township a sense of calm descended upon me. To provide some context, I come from a defense background, my father is in the Indian Air Force. The township was very reminiscent of the air force stations I had lived in for 19 years of my life. The mentors and the employees I interacted with were warm and welcoming and eager to share their knowledge. That experience was the first time I tested myself in a professional environment and was able to make a contribution albeit small, to an organization. My project was to try and improve the Hospital Management System of the hospital in the township. The suggestions and changes made by us were enthusiastically received and it showed that the company really valued and care for its employees. Other found memories in my life have been tied to Pantaloons, we have always shopped for our clothes there. The quality and style of the clothing is remarkable. I still own one or two investment pieces from ten years back. During my internship we were also able to learn about the process of making Viscose and were even able to go to the factories where the fibre is made. Now, every time I see a Liva label I get excited and happy.

How Have You Made An Impact

My life has been constantly shifting due to my background. Moving every few years has meant I have made a lot of friends and lost many. I have learnt that the most important thing in life is family. I have been lucky enough to have a wonderful family that is very supportive and loving. They have taught me perseverance, patience and kindness. During my under-graduation years I struggled and stumbled a lot. Throughout the four years my family was my pillar. My shaky start ended with a really good six-month internship that was instrumental in making me realise that what I wanted to do was an MBA. So, in late August I decided to try to write the CAT and the next two months I juggled my internship and exam preparation. I have always been interested in sports and have participated in a variety of them like, Hammer Throw, Badminton, Squash, running, cycling, etc. It is one of the ways I de-stress and relax. My biggest challenge was in 11th and 12th grade when I was juggling schoolwork, preparations for entrance examinations and violin classes. There never seemed to be enough hours in the week let alone a day. But I enjoyed learning music and it was a creative outlet and like meditation for me so I persevered and worked really hard to make time for these important things in my life. This is one of the instances in my life that I look back on and which gave me the courage to pursue my MBA dreams.
