Importance of Aditya Birla Group in my life
Relationships take time, efforts and trust to build. My relationship with Aditya Birla Group is one such. One that slowly developed over years when ABG touched various aspects of my life, helping me when I was in dire need of help, staying by my side every step of the way but one in which it wasn’t years until I realized the profound involvement of ABG in my life.
I have grown up in NCR and so I have had my fair share of experiencing the ‘Mall Culture’. Fancy brands in glittering showrooms set a benchmark and embarked a new era in the history of retail stores. It was then that I first encountered Pantaloons. The turquoise blue color gave me more delight than any other place. The store wasn’t just for purchasing commodities, rather an experience hub, where I could stroll around for hours, on a constant lookout for some special fashion articles that I could flaunt. Undoubtedly, I was never disappointed. With time, the product portfolio expanded and slowly Pantaloons became the one-stop-shop for most of my fashion woes.
If I were to name my two favorite clothing brands, that would only be Van Heusen and Allen Solly. I cannot emphasize enough how Van Heusen helped me revamp my wardrobe from boring v-necks to sassy outfits. The best part being the sizing, no other clothing brand understands the needs of Indian women as they do. The garments are always made to fit for some weird population that doesn’t exist in India. Allen Solly even being the first brand to introduce formal wear for women in 2002. These brands, they understand, so we connect.
Forever 21 for trendy outfits, People for comfort, Louis Philippe for premium men’s wear and Peter England for smart formals, ABG’s presence spans across all the dimensions of our wardrobes, without even us realizing the level of penetration in our lives.
Only when I grew up and reflected back at my journey did I realize the impact of ABG in my life, from my fashion choices to the strength of the houses we live in, to the aluminum foil that keeps my food warm and fresh. ABG touches almost every aspect of my life and influences my decisions.
How I overcame challenges and finally achieved my goal
In May 2014, the results for my first-year examination of Btech had come out and they were bad. I was in serious trouble. I had been sincerely studying all of the subjects except for Physics, which I found difficult to comprehend. Thus, when the results came, what happened was what I had always feared the most. I failed. For the first time in my life, ever. I was supposed to take a supplementary examination to clear the backlog, but my spirits were shattered. I could see clearly all my shortcomings and everything that was wrong with my actions.
With support from my parents and friends, I started preparing again. However, I lived in a constant fear that I might fail again. I passed the exam and slowly turned the emotion of fear into caution. Whenever I felt that I was neglecting anything important, my mind would alert me which helped me stay consistent in my work.
Gradually, all my grades improved and I scored higher marks every semester.
A similar situation occurred when I was preparing for my management entrance tests. Two nights before my CAT examination, I came to know of sudden death in my family. My aunt was very close to me and her absence made me feel nauseated. I could physically feel the pain in my body.
My aunt had always motivated me, to be better, work harder. I loved her and respected her almost as much as I did my mother. I suppose that’s how life works. She was gone and I was left devastated.
I do not remember how I appeared through the examination but all that I know is that I summoned all my courage and focus. Got good grades and finally started studying at one of the primer B-schools in India.
