In India, options for western formals for women were limited. Many brands were restricted to metro cities. Women who wanted formal wear for corporate in smaller cities had to restrict their choice to Indian wear.

This is where “Van Heusen” came into picture. They came up with a variety of western formals for women. They started with metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi but have now crawled into smaller cities like Dehradun. They have set their target customer base which is young working professionals and have come up with various styles suiting them. In a way, Van Heusen has helped empower women by giving them affordable options and varieties to support them in their corporate careers. Their products fit us in such a way that it generates confidence in us. Now they are one of the leading fashion brands for women especially in formal wear. I personally have bought all my formal suits from Van Heusen before joining my business school.

Recently, they have launched a campaign called “Carry your world” whose brand ambassador is Jacqueline Fernandes. It has been launched across 60 cities. The whole idea of the campaign is to enable women to carry their prized possessions in a small bag to build confidence and motivate them to achieve their dreams of being an independent woman.

Brands like these, which have a social mission apart from just gaining profits, are the ones who connect with the customers. Aditya Birla Group is one of these conglomerates. Their range of products coupled with the quality and affordability makes it one of the most sought-after brands.

As brands like Van Heusen have helped increase confidence in young women , there were many other challenges in my life which I overcame using various ways.

“Challenges are what makes life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”

Life is a journey full of varied experiences and lessons. All of us are bound to face difficulties and make mistakes in this journey. The ones who rise above all are the ones who learn from their mistakes and overcome their challenges with a brave heart no matter what.

My 22-year-old journey comprises of a lot of difficulties and lessons. As a child, I had stage fright. I overcame that fear by facing it and started performing on stage. By the time I left school, I was a regular dance performer in various cultural events. College helped me overcome my fear of public speaking as we had to participate in various events at various platforms. Overcoming this fear was a confidence booster for me. My work experience taught me how to overcome a challenge with a calm mind and proper planning. Throughout all these experiences, I had a positive attitude and believed that these challenges can be handled.

Hence, I believe that to overcome any fear or obstacle we have to be brave and face it. We can’t keep ignoring it and finding alternatives. We should have a “never say die” spirit and shouldn’t take our failures to heart. Failures are the best teachers. We are bound to be dejected by our failures; that’s when our friends’ and parents’ support come into play. To sum it up, being positive, having a brave heart and a motivated and supportive peer group ensures us to overcome any challenges we face in life.
