- Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life.
During my early childhood, I was struck by my father's penchant for good quality shirts and he would invariably buy Louis Philippe. A new store had just opened, at the place we stayed and the logo of the "upper crest" which symbolized this premium brand of apparel, struck my attention every time I passed by. When I went shopping with my father to the store, I was amazed by the sheer pride which I saw in my father when he paid for his chosen shirt. One day the shopkeeper asked him whether he would like to take a card as a valued customer so that he could avail various offers on future purchases. My father couldn’t be happier and filled up the form and a few days later the golden embossed card with the "upper crest" shining brightly arrived by post. I was wowed at the way a product has been transformed into something which a user would feel proud to wear and possess although it didn't cost the world. The store, the packaging, the aura around the product and the quality of fabric simply impress me no end. That was my first peep into the big world of Aditya Birla group with the royal stamp on a product which would make one feel like a king while using it. Today, I continue the tradition by filling up my wardrobe with classic formals from “Louis Phillipe” and trendy casuals from Peter England.
ABG has been enriching the lives of people by providing opportunities to fulfill responsibilities and leading a healthy balanced life. I wish ABG a prosperous way forward as it sets out to power its course to a 100 billion USD revenue mark with passion.
- How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far.
2015, A young upcoming footballer from a small town of Cuttack was making the headlines for all the right reasons, after all, he was one of the few persons earmarked to lead the India U-19 Football team to glory. A few training sessions later, a reckless challenge resulted in a torn ligament and that was the end of what was supposed to be a rewarding professional journey later. It’s funny how life turns around within a matter of seconds.
A few months later, I was advised by the doctor not to pursue an active career in professional football. I gained a lot of weight post-injury and it was difficult for me to even carry out day-to-day activities. Plagued with injuries and diseases and unable to stick to a proper diet, my health went for a toss. I was advised by the doctors to lose weight or else operating on the knee would be a risky proposition. It was one of the toughest phases of my career both professionally and personally.
3 months later and after dropping a couple of kilos, the doctors went ahead with the surgery amidst serious doubts over my weight being a detrimental factor but as I was facing a lot of pain in my leg, they went ahead.
The surgery went fine but then reality hit. Immediately after the surgery, I had a lot of niggles and I faced a lot of complications post-surgery.
4 months later, I dropped around 30 odd kilos and started recovering quicker than what was expected. I started to get back to the field as well and started training. Fast forward to 15 months post-surgery, not only have I become match fit and attended trials for various football clubs all across India but also proved my doctors wrong with my sheer hard work and will power.
This injury not only helped me overcome my fears but also made me more confident to approach any situation with utmost poise and calmness. It not only helped me grow as an individual but also taught me a lot of life lessons that would remain with me for the rest of my life.
