It’s hard to estimate the year when I noticed ABG’s logo for the first time. There is no denying the fact that this distinct red-yellow logo of the rising Sun can be recognized from a considerable distance as it is so popular and gives the conglomerate its much conspicuous identity. For the first time, I came across this logo on the bags of Ultratech cement in a period that I can hardly recollect now. I had started recognizing this geometrical logo which carved itself in my subconscious and I kept on correlating it with only cement bags, never actually being aware about the existence of Aditya Birla Group.
All of us have come across Freshwrapp aluminium foils in our households. This transfers me to a few years back in the memory lane when I got infected from dengue and was hospitalized for about five days. The hospital was incredible, yet the food highly mundane. I craved for good food; however, outside meals weren’t permitted in the hospital premises. On the third day, observing my dismal face, my mother sneaked in some home cooked food in the same Freshwrapp aluminium foil, the image of which stays fresh in my mind till date. This seemingly trivial event marked the onset of my recovery and taught me how little pleasures can take us a long way in our lives. Aditya Birla Group has delivered products that are part of our little joys and achievements, the ones that we often fail to recognize in the fast paced world. It has been a part of our lives in countless ways without us ever acknowledging it, until a few years ago.
The first time I heard about Louis Philippe, it was from my uncle who boasted about the grandeur of its quality. I was considerably young and was not introduced to the world of brands back then except for Pantaloons which is one fashion destination that no one in a metropolitan can affirm of being unaware about. In the years that followed, I explored a lot about various brands and being brought up in Gurgaon provided an added advantage to my yearning for knowledge of brands. I have always been very knowledge hungry; always ready to gulp in new facts from around the world. My desire to pursue management was backed up by a lot of research and contemplation. I worked hard and my struggle paid off. I usually become very anxious when I confront new people for the first time. On the first day of my entry to MDI, Gurgaon , I walked in the classroom in a black-coloured Allen Solly shirt with beautiful slits on the sleeves that give it a perfect semi-formal appearance. The shirt makes me feel confident and optimistic every time I adorn it and I strongly believe that donning up the right attire is very essential as it leaves a lasting impression on the people you come across for the first time.
When it comes to bringing a change in the world or impacting the masses, the first thought that drops in my mind is ‘Mental health’. I haven’t executed much in this domain, however, I have been reading a lot about psychology and mental health from a few years and it disheartens me to see Indians being so indifferent towards their lack of relevant knowledge about mental health and depression. As quoted by Bill Clinton, “Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of, but stigma and bias shame us all”. This is one sparsely touched sector that I would like to invade into once I find myself intellectually and financially capable of meeting its demands.
Suited up in my black-coloured Van Heusen formal ensemble masking an outright white Van Heusen shirt, I’m gearing up for my next knowledge session; the knowledge thirsty me feeling very gratified.
