Opportunities rarely come at your doorstep but when it comes we need to maintain composure and grab it all. After completion of my engineering I got an opportunity to work in EXL Service as business analyst. The work of a business analyst involves a lot of analytical and technical skills and as a metallurgical engineer I had no prior computing sills but I mustered the courage to gain that knowledge in stipulated amount of time as I knew my work there as a business analyst would definitely get me into shape of becoming a consultant in the future. After few days of my training I was allotted a major project of my client. As a fresher my manager who was at client location in UK doubted whether I would be able to go on with the project till its very end but I never doubted myself. I somehow convinced my manager that I am right person for the project will be able to see the project through. During the initial days of the project I found a lot of difficulties as me and my manager were the only people who were involved in the project and both of us didn’t have any idea about the data. I also have a tendency to overthink about situations and get stuck in it. I waste half of my time pondering about the various alternatives and lose focus of the main track. While given multiple tasks, I sometimes get swayed away from my current work and before completing it, start analysing about other tasks. Though it helps in certain situations but works the other way around in some other situations. In this particular project I somehow maintained my composure.
As there was no experienced guy involved in the project so in multiple occasions we found ourselves in a dilemma and which needed a right decision. In those very moments I backed myself and took a step. Though I wasn’t right in a couple of occasions but in a way it really helped me to grow as confident professional.
My unique experience of ABG is with pantaloons. I think the first ever shopping mall complex in my native hometown Bhubaneswar. I live nearly 120km from the capital city which is more of a society. So every time I visit Bhubaneswar I just get perplexed by the uniqueness of the store. Back then I was a kid and this store especially had a kid’s zone with fascinating games at low prices. This made sure that I don’t get bored while my mother and my sister have their time of their life searching every corner of the place to find the unique one among a collection of unique clothes. I really don’t have an idea how my father passed his time. But the way I looked back in those times was all thanks to pantaloons. I think it really made me more confident and cute among my other classmates back in my hometown. Though lot of stores have cropped up in my city but the pantaloons store will always hold a special place and will give a nostalgic feel. Thanks to ABG for this experience.
