When you think about Aditya Birla Group everyday brands come to mind like Idea, Peter England, freshwrapp etc. but when you dig deeper your brain may be amazed by the striking facts like – every third aluminium can is made from Novelis Aluminium, every second car in the world has Birla carbon and many more. The fact is almost every Indian may have come in contact with Aditya Birla Group’s products once in life. For me personally most of my garments come from brands including Loius Phillipe, Vanhuesen, and Peter England. Preferred choice for Telecom operator is Idea in my family. Hence, ABG products have impacted our lives significantly.
Talking about the impact till date in my life, I would like to talk about the time when I joined Fidelity International. During training time there was a hack-a-thon being organized and I created a team of freshers. But from gathering resources to convincing people to become mentor, we faced challenges and we were underestimated by everyone. We were supposed to deliver a mobile application within a time span of 48 hours. The people we were competing against were there in the organization for more than ten years. Everyone assumed we would loose to them including the judges. We didn't sleep for 48 hours straight and created the application.
The time of final presentation came and we knew that our application was better than others in terms of design, speed and flexibility. We presented the app and suddenly during our presentation the main server of the app went down. We were speechless and the judges asked the reason for failure. We had tested everything, nothing could have gone wrong. We looked at each others faces and our minds storming as to what could have happened. Then it just struck my mind that it was weekend and we were told that every weekend there is maintenance scheduled. Everything got linked, we asked the panel to let us follow the after maintenance steps and restart our presentation. They were not only convinced but we won the competition and awarded for our quick turnaround time during disaster recovery.
