The first income in one’s life is very special. It doesn’t matter how much the amount actually is! It gives a sensation that you are now a full-fledged adult. You are no longer a child who depends on his parents for his needs. It gives confidence and a sense of responsibility that it is up to you now to give back to your family. In my case, it was an awesome experience as I had mixed emotions of relief and pride. Yes, it took broke many barricades of my life.

While pursuing my graduation, I was a part of a student-run initiative called Sochbook where we used to sell subsidized notebooks in different colleges of the University Of Delhi. The business model was such wherein we used to get sponsorship from various institutes/companies for the production of these notebooks which then were sold to students at highly subsidized prices. The income that I received from the sale proceeds of those notebooks was a mere Rs.10, 000. Though it seems to be an ordinary amount, but as I look back and see my first income a few years back, it seemed a lot to me. All I wanted to do with that amount was to gift something to my parents. I walked into the nearest store of Van Heusen and purchased a set of formals for my dad. And that is how ABG became a part of one of the biggest moments of my life.
