“An idea can change your life”, - Never before has any tag line embodied the impact of a product more truthfully and completely. Employing over 10,000 employees, Idea Cellular Ltd. has impacted not just the lives of those employed but also of the millions of users across the country. The firm has not only provided quality mobile service at a reasonable price but has also successfully made a social impact via campaigns like, ‘What an Idea Sirji! for a green planet’ and ‘No ullu banaoing’. The company successfully and efficiently utilized the appeal of Abhishek Bachchan to connect with Indian masses to create awareness about how small individual steps can have massive impacts when taken collectively. This is just one of many examples of how Aditya Birla Group has successfully impacted, transformed and improved the Indian society.

Aditya Birla Group is one of India’s most successful and shining conglomerate who has proudly carried the Indian flag on the global stage and has never led the country down. Over the past 150+ years, the firm has evolved from a cotton trading company into India’s 3rd largest conglomerate with a revenue of approximately US$ 44.3 billion in 2018. ABG is not just an economic powerhouse but a socially responsible conglomerate. They have taken significant and impactful steps in accordance with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals including, but not limited to, ‘No poverty’, ‘Quality Education’, ‘Gender Equality’, ‘Clean Water & Sanitation’, ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’. Conglomerate groups like ABG are a result of passion, dedication, and hard work of a few individuals, but they have an everlasting impact on human society.

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved”, these words of Helen Keller have been my mantra for 3 years of my life.

In the year 2016, I lost almost all my savings as well as a significant amount of my dad’s retirement savings in a bad investment. Coming from a middle-class family, losing such a big amount due to an immature and hasty decision is something that changed my outlook for life completely and permanently. This event impacted me so much that for a period of 6 months I just sat in my room, doing nothing. I started avoiding my friends and family and would spend the whole day staring at the wall and watching random online content. The situation was so dire that my dad had to forcibly take me to see a therapist. After 6 months of therapy, I slowly started to come out of my shell, but still, I had no self-confidence. But what surprised me the most was the confidence my father, mother and my close friends showed in me and my capabilities. It was only because of this confidence that I was able to decide to prepare for MBA exams, something that I had never done before. I slowly started getting back in the groove of studying, building up my self-confidence. The fact this was my first attempt for at an MBA entrance exam and I was able to convert every single college application of mine into admission offer is a testament about the truth in words of Helen Keller. And now here I am, at Goa Institute of Management, a premier B-school in the country and dreaming of working in powerhouses like Aditya Birla Group. I could not have achieved my current position without the support of my parents and friends and their confidence in me which lead me to rebuild my self-confidence.
