The Aditya Birla Group has played an inspiring and crucial part in my life, one of the world's biggest conglomerates; the Group has contributed to modern India's economy and growth, leaving its presence in this nation in every aspect of life. When I was seven years old, I first came to learn about ABG through Ultratech Cement advertisement. I was then unaware of the Aditya Birla Group's Ultratech Cement effect. I was later fascinated by the reality that nearly all significant infrastructure projects (even Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli sea link) were using this cement. The Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail is another very significant ABG business that has a deep effect on my life. I've been doing my shopping majorly from stores of Allen Solly, Peter England, and Louis Philippe for various functions and festivals without knowing the reality that even in Fashion and Retail ABG has left a distinct mark in my life, shaping my persona to some extent and adding to it, they had broad range of offers that was enough to fascinate me. The group has also dominated the telecommunications industry, with Idea Cellular (now owned by Vodafone and ABG) being one of the leading providers of telecommunications services not only to large towns, but also to remote areas of the nation. Even during my frequent visits to my hometown, I would be astonished to discover that even in tiny towns and villages, Idea cellular towers work correctly. Aditya Birla Capital is one of ABG's big component companies. It has now become one of the best companies to invest in with its innovative strategies in banking and finance. ABG has left a profound impact in this country in every sector from Finance to Retail and from Capital to Cement Production and Distribution and has inspired millions of people including myself.
EXCERPTS FROM MY LIFE
ABG integrates positivity, in one way or other into the life of an individual. The color of its logos, the lively ads, the goods of good quality–it’s just incredible. I suppose I'm intrinsically a cheerful individual and the CSR tagline of ABG's "Big on Smiles" is something I fully associate with. There's been a fair share of highs and lows in my life, though, and I think I've been tackling the best of my abilities so far.
Every challenge you face makes you stronger, and that's what I strongly think in when hard times come to pass. Augusts’ 2014 month was one of those times for me.
My father was diagnosed with blockages in the arteries when I was in my eighth standard. We shared unique father-son relationship; he was like my best friend. Year 2014 will always be that phase in my life that helped me turn into an adult from being a kid. This year in month of February my brother got engaged. Everyone in family was very happy. I was completing my B-Tech in Chennai, June and July months are blessing in every student’s life and I too was the same. After completing my vacations, I headed back to Chennai for my final year.
On 11th evening in August I received a call from my brother, that call actually turned my world upside down. My father passed away the same evening and I was immediately been called back home. I was in state of shock. Everything came in front of my eyes as a flashback; I didn’t know how to react. The only thing I knew was I need to support my mother and brother in this situation.
Somehow I regained all my strength, went home and settled down everything. In this situation I acted maturely and didn’t let other feel what I actually was feeling deep down in my heart. Things didn’t end here. After nine days, I had to again go back to my college to appear for my mid-term exams and also had to appear for my placement season. My placement season ended on a very high note as I was placed in top 3 IT MNCs of the country. I also took care of all the arrangements in my brother’s marriage and everything happened smoothly.
I felt like a winner when I met the unstated expectations that I and my family had from me. I felt accomplished when I handled the situation with the utmost courage and diligence. There were times when I felt like giving up since the pressure building up was humongous. But hard times are when you get tested and emerging victorious out of such situations is pure ecstasy.
