Aditya Birla, being a conglomerate has been connected with me since my birth. Aditya Birla group, a corporation valued at US $44 and one of the fortune 500 companies is a household name having its presence in a variety of fields like cement, textiles, telecom, metals, etc. To reminisce my childhood days, I used to carry Freshwrap’s foil paper to wrap my food in order to keep my food fresh and also to stop it from spilling it in my bag. My house was constructed when I was in second standard. Here, again I used Ultratech Cement to construct my dream home, which is an essential part of my life. Hence, this group has become a common thread which will run through generations to come. Being a person who is very much into financial domain, first stock I was recommended by my father was Ultratech Cement because is what matters to him and Aditya Birla Group has always been a synonym to consistency, growth and trust. For the longest part of my my life I have had Idea sim card. Again, my decision was Idea because of the superior quality it has maintained over the years. Since years I have been wearing Louis Phillipe, Allen Solly, Van Huesen and Peter England’s clothes. They are a style statement and it gives me a sense of pride to wear them. Thus, Aditya Birla group, in almost every facet of my life has been my partner. I hope to continue this partnership further.
In life if you are not facing challenges and not failing, that means you are not doing anything new in life. Every person has to face challenges in life, whether he likes it or not. Challenges help us become stronger and prepare us for tougher times in future. I unlike, many others have been with faced quite a few challenges in my short life. One such challenge I faced was in my college life. I was pursuing Chartered Accountant (CA) course. CA course has three stages. I had passed the first stage- CPT with flying colours in my first attempt. The main challenge was during the second stage- IPCC. The classes were seven days a week with two back-to-back three-hour tests on Sunday. The timings were 8 AM to 8 PM. The pressure was immense with the passing percentage of students who gave the exam was too low. Then, when the exams arrived in nine months, I failed them badly. I was always a bright student with my scores always around ninety percent. Thus, I never had such a failure. I was sad. But, I decided to give one more attempt and prepare harder. But, in the middle of my exams I suffered with Chicken- Gunya and Dengue. Thus, I again failed the exams. I had hit rock bottom. I was depressed for two weeks. After two weeks, I sat down and thought analytically and weighted my strengths against the skills required to become a CA. I then realized, CA requires a lot of discipline in terms of hours required to study. I wasn’t the guy who could just sit for 12-16 hours every day and read from a book. Also, I was more interested towards managerial side of financial world rather than auditing and tax side. Thus, I weighed my options and came to conclusion that MBA was better suited with my skill set. I learned from this challenge that sometimes certain things are not meant for you. You just need to analytically analyze it.
