The phrase above is not just an amalgamation of the various taglines that Aditya Birla Group has adopted over the last 2 decades. It also perfectly encapsulates the growth trajectory of the group in becoming the US $44.3 bn diversified conglomerate that it currently is- a stamp of the sustained contribution of Indian businesses across the world. However, the phrase holds a great similarity with the journey I have been undertaking over the last few years, benefiting from the value created within me as one among the million lives touched by the rays of the sun that ABG exemplifies.
My journey of life started in 1995, just two years before ABG came into existence in 1997. Since, then ABG has been a constant companion through its wide plethora of products and services, for me as a consumer. However, the year 2012 was a turning point in this association, when I took the decision to get enrolled in the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, at Pilani, an institute led by the proven visionary leadership of Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla.
Pilani is a small town in Rajasthan, at the roots of the Aditya Birla Group which, in turn, continuously shines its rays upon it, by supporting and running the best private engineering institute in India. The sustenance of BITS Pilani alongside the IITs is yet another testament to the contribution of ABG in pioneering and complementing the government in the Indian growth story. The diversity trait of ABG is not just restricted to the businesses, and I could experience it through the ecosystem of BITS Pilani that attracts the most versatile talent pool through a highly selective merit-only admission process.
I have been a constant customer of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail for a long time now. No matter how unsure I may be, I have always ended up finding a product that suits my personality, thanks to the quality and variety at our disposal. BITS helped me in a similar fashion. Initially, the journey was challenging, where in, I became dispirited and could not focus on my academics, mostly due to an unsure mind regarding my interest in the branch of engineering I was enrolled in. However, the range of opportunities that I had at BITS, helped me soon find my calling and strive towards a set goal. The mandatory Practice School industrial internship at RITES Ltd. was the foundation that made me identify my interest in the field of construction management within the domain of civil engineering. I built upon the foundation through voluntary internships thereafter in the same field and a decent academic performance in relevant subjects.
Continuously building upon all the above, the big in my journey would happen soon, when the worldwide reputation of the ABG-led institution would help me get an opportunity to take myself to the world. A semester long research internship in Taiwan was a chance I got as a fruit of the turnaround achieved within myself through the nurturing environment of BITS Pilani. There was still more to come, and during final placements, I got the coveted offer from a PSU in my desired field of construction project management, all on the basis of my unique profile built over the years, through the vision, opportunities and motivation that one gets access to by being a companion of the Aditya Birla Group. I have now moved further and enrolled myself in the MBA Programme at MDI Gurgaon, but the impact created in my life through the above journey will stay for long and will continuously motivate me to strive harder and follow a path similar to what ABG continuously takes to reach the sun and beyond!
