“I distributed sweets at my office, when you were born”, my father fondly remembers the time when he worked at Jayshree Insulators of the Aditya Birla Group. Having heard this innumerable times since childhood, I asked him one day about the “Birla Group” he kept on mentioning. That was the first time I got acquainted to the mammoth business empire and its exceptional reputation and values. As my father recollects, just mentioning that you have come as an employee of the group was enough for people to take notice and get the job done at priority. For people of such a huge country to take notice of a business house shows the importance of the group in their daily lives. It also shows how much people respect the contributions the group has made in nation building through its business since independence.
As I grew up, and learnt more about businesses and the way they function, the awe in me for the group only increased. From the Idea sim of my phone to the Freshwrapp foil in which my mom packed my food to the Peter England apparel I recently tried and grew fond of, I find the presence of Aditya Birla Group in so many aspects of my life. Something I remember vividly from 2013 was when I went for buying cement with my uncle as we were renovating our ancestral house. On being shown a lot of brands, the fact that we were novices in this field made us really confused as to which one should we opt for. My uncle then started identifying the parent companies of each of the brands shown to us. This was a fruitful exercise as we opted for Ultratech Cement as soon as we came to know of its parent company. The point which differentiated Ultratech was the fact that we knew we couldn’t make a mistake by opting for a product of Aditya Birla Group. This is something which exists in the psyche of most people about the group, which makes it truly great.
How Have You Made An Impact
I have always looked forward to challenges. Bouncing back to score 4.5 points in the next 5 rounds after losing two consecutive rounds in the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2015 was a point when I realized how much I liked facing challenges. The transformation from a guy who didn’t quite study during the initial years of graduation to someone who studied hard, improved his grades and got through aptitude exams to get an admit to my esteemed institute MDI was another challenge I took up and fulfilled. Teaching chess online to a 6 year old was another thing I took up as a challenge and contributed to his wins at school and city levels. Generating funds to the tune of 10000 rupees within 5 hours from scratch was a challenge I fulfilled with my group of friends, when we decided to contribute to the CM’s relief fund for Odisha floods. The past month spent at MDI has been full of challenges. From projects to submissions to presentations to meetings, challenges have become a integral part of our life here. After all, challenges make our life interesting and worth living, isnt it?
