PANTALOONS is the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Aditya Birla Group. In the last 4-5 years, Pantaloons has become my go-to brand for all kinds of clothing utilities. My journey at EY started with Peter England shirts and trousers and today I am writing this article wearing a Byford t-shirt in the library of NMIMS where I am pursuing my full time MBA.

Aditya Birla as a group has grown leaps and bounds since its inception. The iconic sunrise logo with stripes of different colors; yellow, orange, red and maroon in my head resemble a sign of growth, optimism and prosperity. The latest iteration in the logo gives it a young and a fresh feel. The group’s clothing brands like Pantaloons, Peter England, Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, etc. represent and connect with the youth and gives us great choice and are value for money.

But Aditya Birla Group is not only about fashion and retail, it has several arms which impact the lives of millions of people like me on a daily basis. The group is involved in businesses whose products can be found in your kitchen (Freshwrap), in your car (Birla Carbon used in Tires), on your way to work (Ultratech used in the making of the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea link in Mumbai) and in your office as well (Birlasoft, ABFL, etc).

Other than the products and services that the Aditya Birla Group has provided, they have time and again also provided great Management lessons and how a company should adapt to changing environments. The most recent one being the merger of Idea cellular with Vodafone network. Looking at the changing landscape in the telecom sector in India, the leadership at Aditya Birla took a bold decision to tie-up with another telecom provider to become the country’s largest telecom operator. The sale of More Supermarket chain to Amazon and Samara Capital is one more such example where it is evident that the top leadership at Aditya Birla is running efficiently like a well-oiled engine and are responsive to the changes in the market.

The group has done great service to the country and the world at large and has touched the lives of millions of people and it has successfully added a lot of value to my life personally as well.
