Having scored more than 99 percentile in CAT 2017, I was full of happiness and enthusiasm of getting into a top b-school for management studies, but all of my dreams shattered when I couldn’t go through the selection process of the top colleges I aspired to get into. That was the time where I doubted my capabilities and questioned myself if I could even survive the rigor of b-schools. I needed to self-introspect myself and to answer the dilemma “if I should join any other b-school or to prepare for one more year and work on my weaknesses and retake the CAT exam”. Going against the suggestions of my family and mentors, I decided to reappear for the selection process and kept faith in myself. Now came the challenging part of my journey where I had to transform myself from being shy and introvert to being a friendly and outgoing person. I started working in my family business to gain insights about the functioning of a business organisation and to develop a practical approach to business problems along with burning midnight oil for preparing for the CAT exam. Through my hard work, perseverance and utmost dedication I was able to score a better percentile in CAT and later got through the selection process of the flagship program of Management Development Institute, Gurgaon. Today when I look back a year from now I realize the importance of hard work, dedication, perseverance and most importantly keeping faith in yourself.
