The first time I cried, she was there. The first time I fell on my knees, she was there to pick me up. The first time I lost a race, she was there to console me. The first time I had an ice-cream, she was there to capture it with her camera. The first time my heart was broken, she swore to stir up a fight. The first time I left home for college, she calmed me down while she kept her tears at bay.
Every step of the way, my mother has cared for me in more ways that I can imagine. My day starts with her calling me to wake me up and ends with wishing her goodnight. As any child, you never imagine anything bad happening to your parents and I was sailing on the same boat.
Little did I expect life to throw a curve-ball. It just happened out of the blue. One fine day I got a call saying, “Mum is in the hospital”.
My first reaction, as obvious, was shock and fear. After shedding my fair share of tears, I asked my family about her well- being only to get a feeble response of, “She will get better, we called to just inform you”.
When I heard that response, I got into the first flight possible and literally ran home. When I reached the hospital, I didn't know if I have to cry or smile.
My sweet mother was up and about yelling at everyone and creating a ruckus to get home. While I was happy to see her screaming her lungs out, I knew something was wrong. It's only after I did a little bit of digging did I find that she wanted to get home and not get treated because of the huge bill our family would incur.
When my father got to know this I thought he would get furious but rather he asked me to calm my mum down and that everything would be handled. After 2 long hours of emotional blackmail, I finally convinced my mother to stay in hospital and get her treatment.
I did wonder how our family would pay for treatment and was thinking about taking extra part time jobs, when my father figured what was going on in my head. I was mad that he was so calm when so much was happening. He finally revealed that there is no need to worry because mum was insured under the Aditya Birla Health Insurance.
AB’s Insurance plan offered a high sum assured and helped us take care of huge medical expenses- both pre and post hospitalisation charges. Additionally, it also provided cover for a range of other treatment expenses like ICU charges, room rents, specialist’s fee, medicines, physiotherapy etc.
AB has really come to our rescue in such difficult times, and has been a source of support throughout her treatment. It’s helped us overcome a major challenging event in our lives.
