“I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference” – Robert Frost.
This line defines me, my attitude, my rationale before making any important decision of my life. When I was a teenager, I usually thought of becoming an astronaut or a scientist or a criminal lawyer. Yes! Anything that sounded fascinating to me, something that is not pursued by everyone. I always wanted to be beautiful but in a unique way, normal but in a weird way. Anyway, life happened and I grew up to be an engineer but deep down there was still a child inside me, a strong desire of doing something different. Hence, I chose Civil Engineering. After, getting my degree, I got the opportunity to pursue my MTech from one of the IIT’s. My family was extremely happy that finally their daughter will complete her master’s degree, go on to become a professor, maybe and finally get settled. In the meantime, I got a government job in the construction of Metro. I left my master’s and joined the organisation. My parents were in a shock that I left my studies for a job that required site posting, a job that demanded my presence on site whether it is a shivering winter of 10 degrees or scorching summer of 45 degrees. Anyway, my parents were starting to get normal when another shock came their way after they got to know that I was the only girl in the entire unit where I was posted. But believe me, I was thoroughly enjoying, I was so excited that finally I got a chance to prove something. I still remember the first day when I was asked to be on site where I was supposed to check the reinforcements. It was an elevated Metro, way above the road level. Bars were tied and I was supposed to walk on them, check them whether they were according to the specifications or not. It scared the hell out of me. I had to take the help of one of my colleagues to walk on the bars. After completing my task, I came down where my manager was standing. He came to me and applauded me for completing the task despite being so scared. That was the moment when I felt proud as I knew I had made a positive impact. A month passed, and then came the day when I received my first salary. Yes! That awesome moment when you feel at the top of the world, where you feel like u have actually grown up and have matured. But then again, the sad part is you have to buy gifts for almost everyone in your entire family starting from the grandparents to the child who is just born and hardly knows how to walk. I decided Pantaloons. Pantaloons is my one stop point because of the range they provide, the price at which they provide, the warm welcome they provide. Usually, either brands go for cost leadership or customer orientation strategy but at Pantaloons, I find them both going simultaneously. I love the way how I am greeted every time I walk into a Pantaloons store and ever time, they amuse me with the collection they offer. I still remember, when I was kid, people were not conscious of brands. There were not so many brands that were there for us and the brands that were there were very expensive. Not everybody could afford it. Today, you can easily locate a Pantaloons store near you. It is really making India stylish. Anyway, years passed by and I completed around two and a half years managing four different responsibilities at my job. In my last role, I was in the Quality Assurance department where I got exposed to Ultratech Cement- “Build Beautiful”. I even got the opportunity to visit their RMC plants and one thing that resonates in all the brand of Aditya Birla Group is “Quality and Excellence”. Today, I am in the second year of my MBA. I resigned from the government job despite all odds to pursue my dream. I, as a customer trust Aditya Birla Group because they have consistently delivered what is expected out of them, they have successfully differentiated themselves among others. Hence, they always inspire the child out of me to continuously push myself and be the best!
