How I overcame my challenges?
Seth Godin (marketing stalwart) once said: "If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try". The same is the case with challenges if your journey to final destination doesn't exuberate you, push you beyond your limits, encourages you to work harder than the previous day then that final destination is not a success it's just a pit stop in between your road to success.
The first overwhelming challenge I encountered was when I dropped for IIT preparations, dropping out was itself a challenge as I had to convince my parents, myself for the chall enging task I was about to take on. The next challenge was to improve my current rankings and try to get into one of the old IITs as they are considered to be most valuable . With the increased competition and test-takers every year, it was a case of consistency and perseverance. Although I did manage to improve my rankings, I was not able to get into my desired IIT and stream of my choice . I was heartbroken , disappointed , dejected and many other sad emotions you could think of I experience them all ... another challenge I faced was how to get out of this condition . With the self realization that this is not the end of the world and development of a desire to make best out of what I have got . With changed physical structure ( by dropping out 30 kgs so that I can concentrate more on studies ) , a new mindset and zeal to work even harder this time I managed to do well in my undergraduate.
Now I faced another challenge of how to manage my ongoing semester exams of undergrad and CAT preparation simultaneously . This was the most difficult phase of my life where I was under constant pressure to perform well in CAT , semester exams , also prepare for ongoing placements and failure was not an option for me. I managed to get a good percentile in CAT and above average marks in my undergrad. Now when I look back I realized I overcame this challenge by not thinking about past , or predicting future my focus was more on what I can do with present , how I can improve today , how I can outperform my previous performance , my competition was not with the 2.41 lacs students that took CAT exam my competition was with myself , I had to beat me everyday till I get to finish line . The end result was just a fruit of my year-long hard work but what I learned during this "roadtoimi" and how i evolved as a person is the gem that will stay with me , my whole life .
