As a child, I couldn’t properly pronounce or spell “conglomerate”, let alone know its meaning. But we had a MORE retail market just opposite our house and it is from there that I came to know about the Aditya Birla Group. Every weekend my mother used to take me to MORE for buying grocery, and I used to ask my mom about Aditya Birla Group. One day she explained me what it is, how ABG is much more than just MORE, the true meaning of the word “conglomerate” and how there is a bit of ABG in almost every Indian’s life.

It is almost impossible to escape ABG’s wide range of offerings. From using IDEA sim card for almost 5 years to buying Peter England formal shirts, ABG has played a major role knowingly or unknowingly. The company plays a crucial role in providing employment to lakhs of Indians and also helps in growing the Indian economy.

ABG is one of the dream companies for every B-School student. The culture of ABG, growth opportunities in the company, opportunity to work across different business units and to have a long successful career – all of these makes ABG a dream company to work for.

The biggest challenge in my life so far has been taking a solo trip to Darjeeling, West Bengal. It was during the third year of my college that I realised that my dream is to travel the world. I always wanted to take a solo trip but somehow couldn’t gather enough courage to do so. A solo trip entails a lot of risk, uncertainty but at the same time provides an unmatched experience of meeting new people, immersing in new cultures and most importantly, finding inner peace and time to be with oneself. I felt a strong urge to take a solo trip to experience all these things. After being convinced myself, the next task was to convince my parents. My parents have always been extremely supportive of my decisions, and this time it was no different. Although they had their apprehensions, but they supported me and motivated me to take the trip.

The trip to Darjeeling was one of the most satisfying few days of my life. Meeting new people, getting to know the culture of the mountain community and most importantly finding time to be with myself – all these made the trip an extremely memorable one for me.
