Part A
Aditya Birla Group (ABG) has been one the leading business houses in India, since a very long time and now forms among the premium business conglomerates of the world. Starting it’s journey as a jute manufacturing company way back in 1919 and reaching the pedestal where it has in the Indian Business map, the journey has been amazing and inspiring to the host of budding entrepreneurs including me.
The journey of the group touched me more, ever since childhood, as my roots are also from Kolkata – the place from which this amazing journey of ABG started.
The range of products that have emerged out of the shelves of this conglomerate to serve us is big and vast and words would fall short to describe the influence and role that they have played in our life right from Ultra Tech Cement to Hindalco aluminum, copper to Madura garments and Peter England, to the telecom giants of Idea Cellular and the Investment friends of Birla Sun Life distribution company.
However, while talking about ABG, things would remain incomplete if I do not mention about a small incident from my childhood when I first came to know of them. It was a humid afternoon in Kolkata, when my home was getting built and I was standing holding the hands of my father seeing him realize his dream of having his own house. I remember my father explaining someone about how good the cement in use is, since it is UltraTech and comes from the house of ABG. The gravity of the words took me some years to understand till I saw it’s commercials in TV depicting a strong muscular man protecting the house saying – Virat Compressive Strength, Ultratech Cement. It was then I realized the amount of faith that people have on the brand of ABG and it’s product and the kind of role it has played in building our nation and her nationals.
Part B
Life always has in store innumerous ups and down, which we have to overcome day in and day out to survive and sustain in this challenging and demanding environment. Every individual when asked does indeed have some or the other amazing stories to tell, where he rose above a number of challenges with his chin up to emerge as a stronger individual and with his head held high. While there are also adverse situations which can break down a person completely. This is the perennial truth of nature, something which may or may not like, but can definitely not put to ignorance.
My life has also seen a number of challenging situations and hardships which at some point of time indeed felt like unparalleled and something which would weigh me down. But ultimately due to extreme hard work, patience and luck I was able to weather the storm.
I remember the days after getting my first job post grads and getting posted in Chennai, back in 2015. The joy of a new job did not last long when I was stranded along with a couple of friends in the deadly floods of December. Life had come to a standstill with little knowledge about the city, hardly any understanding of the local language. All ATMs had run dry and there was no power, telephone network. I was completely detached from family for over a week. However, I braved the storm with my friends and stayed there all along before things slowly returned back to normalcy. This was a big incident in my life where I had to overcome stiff challenges and survive the tide.
