ABG has definitely been a touched our lives at many points of times, whether it be sectors like fashion and retail or industry like cement or metals. Especially for the youth like me, I personally associate to its fashion sector more. Be it the plethora of options available on Pantaloons or the other brands, I personally feel ABG has made fashion accessible to everyone. I for one, like their sports gear section in Pantaloons. It provides me with reliable sportswear which are very trendy and at affordable prices.
Last year I worked as an intern with an NGO called Human Hope Foundation that acts as a catalyst in bringing sustainable and qualitative changes in the lives of the underprivileged sections of the society by providing them with remedial education and livelihood opportunities. The major focus of the internship was to create and develop methods to help the kids with basic concepts of Mathematics and English as well as to impart them with information on how to maintain their overall health and hygiene. I taught kids from class one to tenth during which I realised that majority of them, even the kids in higher classes, were not able to solve the basic problems in maths. This was not due to their lack of interest but due to the fact that they lacked in having basic infrastructure and quality education. I tried my best to know them and help them with all their school related work. I focussed on the very basic fundamentals of mathematics and after taking few extra classes as well, they were actually able to solve those problems with ease which earlier they didn't understand. In fact, many of them even scored a good score in their class tests. Many of the parents even visited the NGO, to thank me for helping them and were excited for their children’s future prospects. Apart from this, various sessions on developing sound memory, critical thinking and maintaining a good hygiene were also organised. I do realise that two months is a very short span of time and what I did may not have created a very big impact but as small as it may be, I am happy that it was significant. After joining MDI as well I am working with Samaritans, which is the social initiative club at the campus. We have conducted various events like donation drives, visits to old age home, plantations and much more and I feel that I would really like to contribute in one or the other way to the society.
