Aditya Birla Group, currently operating in 14 different industry sectors, is one of India’s biggest companies and is a part of almost everyone’s life in some way or the other. On a personal note, ABG has impacted and bettered my experiences a lot. Aditya Birla Group owns different brands like Ralph Lauren, Hackett, Allen Solly, American Eagle, Louis Philippe, Peter England have all been my favorites since a very long time.

Coming to the Cement Industry, ABG-owned UltraTech cement, is one of the top players in its industry. The position that they are at, speaks volumes about their flawless processes and the efficiency of the management in the company. They increase employment which empowers different communities of people, thereby contributing to the country on a larger scale. It can also be seen that 0.1 million MT of UltraTech Cement went into the construction of Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea link which is used by thousands of people on a day-to-day basis.

Birla Carbon is a world leader in the manufacturing and supply of carbon black additives. It caters to leading brands and companies across the tire, rubber, plastic, ink and paint industries globally. Birla Carbon’s footprint extends across 12 countries on five continents with 16 manufacturing facilities for a combined annual production capacity of over 2 million tonnes.

Grasim Industries Limited is the flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group. It started as a textiles manufacturer in India in 1947. Today, it is a leading global player in VSF and the largest chemicals (Chlor-Alkali-s) player in India. It is also the largest cement producer and Diversified Financial Services (NBFC, Asset Management and Life Insurance) player in India through its subsidiaries UltraTech Cement and Aditya Birla Capital.

To pen down my thoughts about hardships, I think challenges are a part of this journey called Life. How one reacts during these moments, defines one’s true grit and character. One of the major challenges in life was during my twelfth standard, when I was preparing for JEE mains examination. Although I could barely clear the exam, I made sure I have sustained through the academic rigour and more importantly learnt during the period. Later on, I had joined one of the top engineering colleges in Hyderabad and was one of the top students when I passed out of the college.

The next biggest challenge was when I had an eye injury while playing basketball. I got it operated and could only use one of my eyes for a week as the other was closed to recover from the surgery. During this period, I was mentally low and had almost given up on getting back to normalcy. That’s when people around like my family, friends and neighbors inspired me to understand that these are all a part of life and that one needs to learn through such instances in life. I have recovered quite well and got back to routine quite faster than expected.

One of the most recent challenges was to cope up with the peer pressure in the B-school that I have joined. At the start, it was too overwhelming to take all things at once. However, with the help of seniors, teachers and friends, I made sure I prioritized things and understood that I can not be the best at everything. This is one of the secrets to success and I believe digging deeper into few things is of more value than little knowledge on a variety of things. Lastly, I am quite happy with wherever I am today.
