The Indian populace consists of people of height averaging from 5 feet to 5 feet 5 inches. This
makes the Indian market flooded with apparel designed for the average size, making it
cumbersome for the smaller group of people who are as tall as 6 feet by the time they reach 15
years of age. Being a part of this niche group, this became regular hassle for me since
childhood. Coming from a humble background, shopping from rare high-end stores, to get the
size that would fit my torso was something that would reflect bitterly on the monthly
expenditure. Hence, the routine of going to multiple places in search of good fabric and hunting
a tailor who would stitch my clothes perfectly to my comfort was something my mother would
worry about. Growing up, this was a persistent discomfort amongst many, for quite a few years
in my life. However, this discomfort was relatively short lived as my mathematics teacher,
suggested that I visit the Pantaloons store once. He told us that it was a budget-friendly place
and the chances of my size being available are more than a head being the outcome of a toss of
a coin. After some insistence, my mother agreed to give it a go. She was worried about the
price tags, as the facade of the store had a posh look. We visited our nearby Pantaloons store
for the first time, I tried on an Allen Solly shirt whose quality and fitting were right next to
perfect for me and my pocket. Pantaloons became a hub for families like mine to find brands
like Allen Solly, Bare Denim, Peter England, Van Heusen and Louis Philippe to name some.
Brands with good quality, chic designs at affordable prices like these were otherwise next to
impossible to find together in one place. Moreover, no other multiple brand outlet offered such
a diverse merchandise assortment range. Aditya Birla’s Pantaloons has not just eliminated the
problem of finding good clothes but also helped me dress to impress for several occasions, as
it has for many others.
