Aditya Birla Group has touched a million lives. I say this, not just for the fulfilment of writing this article, but because the presence of ABG in my life personally has been huge. I come from Jagdishpur, Uttar Pradesh where ABG has its fertilizer unit called the Indo Gulf Fertilizers, which is a unit of Grasim Industries, ABG. My father has been working with Indo Gulf Fertilizers since the last 30 years giving all his life and loyalty to the Aditya Birla Group. My mother also teaches at the school that is set up on this plant’s township premises. Not just my parents, but I myself have been educated at The Aditya Birla Public School, Jagdishpur throughout the fourteen years of my schooling. I have spent my formative years surrounded by the resources and facilities, all that were provided to me and my family by ABG.

In my school, I had this huge portrait of Shri Aditya Vikram Birla ji. No event in our school started off without lighting the lamp and paying tribute to this revolutionary man. Indeed, he has been a role model for us for his impeccable business sense and his contribution to the society. Giving back to society is an integral part of ABG and that is what has been my key learning from my education.

The Aditya Birla Public School, Jagdishpur has shaped me into the person I am today. It gave me everything a student deserves to get from its school. With the support and guidance of my teachers and all the resources that were available to me, I passed out of school with flying colours and was able to join one of the best institutions of the country, Miranda House, Delhi University.

Coming from a small town in Uttar Pradesh to the capital city of India had been full of challenges. But the confidence that my school had provided to me, I was ready to mark my presence and make full use of this opportunity. I had left my family back home and came alone to a big city, amidst new culture, new people and lots of competition. Even in the atmosphere of so much rivalry, politics, malice, ignorance and indifference, I am proud that I choose to be a socially sensitive and responsible leader. The motto of my school is – “Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaiye” meaning- That which liberates is knowledge. Apart from giving knowledge, it instilled the values of humility, integrity and compassion in me. My school has given me so much and now after gaining education from one of the top colleges of the country, it is my chance to do something for the society. It is said that people should never forget their roots and for me, I could never and would never forget my roots in my striving towards becoming a leader, a leader that ABG has shaped and would be proud of.
