How Have You Made An Impact
Journey to IIM was not easy for me. After my undergrad, I was waiting for my call letter from my recruiter but due to some circumstances the company had to shut down so was my joining and getting my first job. It was in the mid of August this happened and I had to find an alternative for my future at that time. I had no plans and preparation for appearing this year but with no alternative, in a short while and with the fear of year gap I decided to give it an attempt. But this was not the only problem when I had financial issues at my home I had to take the decision very wisely for spending every penny. I had to decide if I should take coaching or prepare on my own.as coaching would cost me twenty thousand for five months. I was told that if I want to join coaching then I have to crack CAT anyhow or better prepare for government exam! Having the fear of year gap I decided to take coaching and crack CAT at my first attempt itself. I had to make myself focused on the strengths and weakness to prepare well make strategic use of my available time in my hand is an average student and my weakness in quants sometimes forced me to doubt my potential of cracking the exam at the very first attempt. I was determined to get it but not fully sure as low marks in mocks test always demotivated my for awhile . while the thought of studying in the country’s most reputed MBA college also allured me to not to lose the hope and to let the burning desire to burn even more so that which pushed me to think about the picture which lied beyond my comfort zone. As it its said there is always greener grass on the opposite side. The burning desire to succeed will always take you up higher only if you keep working on yourself and not getting affected by any external factor. I started working on myself, changed my sleeping and eating habits, and included physical activity, just to not lose my creativity and the artist in me I took enough time to click pictures and paint which even helped me to explore and accentuate my skills, helped me to focus more and to control my emotions and thoughts. Seeing my own batch mates and friends being placed in good companies and earning sometimes made me wonder if I ever would be able to make my parents as happy as they can? Or was I just waiting for any miracle to happen? The most hurting question which one avoids during this time was “ What are you doing these days? Didn’t you join anywhere? What are you up to? What are your future plans?” these few haunting questions helped me to not only to force myself to work hard and achieve my dream of getting into an IIM but also gave me a chance to prove people that only if you have the true zeal and determination and most important to believe in yourself. That any dream can be converted to reality if only we believe in the magic of believing.
