PART A
Aditya Birla Group after one and a half century of operations is one of India's most successful and oldest conglomerate. A fortune 500 company, Aditya Birla Group is a benchmark for businesses not only in the country but around the globe. Aditya Birla Group has touched the life of every Indian in some or the other way, through its most trusting brands in the field of textile, telecom, finance, e-commerce, chemicals, agribusiness, cement etc. Coming from a generation that has seen the shift from local shopping markets to show room experiences, one of my earliest memory of interaction with Aditya Birla dates back to my childhood when I was first introduced to a Pantaloons store. The array of perfectly organised colour coordinated clothes made my eyes pop with excitement. The same goes for my shopping experience at More Megastore that completely changed the way groceries are brought in the house. Sundays became a family outing day where in my whole family would go to More Megastore to buy groceries and almost every other item of household need. Later on as I joined college, Allen Solly and Van Heusen became my go to store for formal clothing. Van Heusen specially, I believe defines the confidence and strength of today’s modern woman with utmost precision. When I started formal business education Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla was one of the visionaries that I looked up to, the way he has taken over Aditya Birla and made it great not only in India but worldwide is truly inspiring. He is it true role model for anyone wanting to make it big in the business world.
Very often, we think of leadership being at the very top of an organisation. I think what’s unique about ABG is that we have a very strong cadre of leaders across the organisation who are highly empowered and therefore play a very major role in the growth and evolution of the organisation.
- Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla
PART B
A simple act of kindness can leave a big impact on someone's life. This is what I have been taught thought my life by my parents, teachers and many other wise people. I have always been privileged enough to have three meals per day, a shelter to live under and a loving family who provided me with the best education and anything that I could ask for.
Keeping this gratitude in mind I joined fulfilling dreams foundation in college which was an NGO started by my seniors. Our mission at FDF was two folds, to provide nutritious food to people living in slums across Delhi and educational support to underprivileged kids. Being a member funded organisation, lack of resources and cash crunch were always difficult to manage. Being a core member it was my responsibility to ensure that FDF works smoothly without worrying about money. There were days we could not pay teachers of our informal school on time and keeping the organisation going was a big challenge. I started initiatives like looking for corporate funding from small businesses, and organising collection drives in local markets. This also meant going from shop to shop in Delhi summers with interns and convincing owners to support our cause. It has been a rocky road and there are still days we worry about the future of the organization, but our passion towards making an impact in the society keeps us going
