Why Aditya Birla Group Is Big in My Life?
Aditya Birla Group – The Indian Multinational Conglomerate, which operates in 35 countries and supports 120,000 employees worldwide, works in 5,000 villages, reaches out to 7.5 million people, runs 5,000 medical camps and 20 hospitals, treated over a million patients, immunized 70 million children against polio, operates 56 schools for 46,500 children, provided solar lamps for 450,000 school children, midday meals every day for 63,000 children in 268 schools, skill training for 95,000 people, is high on Social Service. It truly believes in giving back to society and thus has immense respect and holds a special place in my heart. “I don’t want to live long but I want to live big” and one way I can do that is doing whatever I can for the greater good. Coming to its businesses, the conglomerate does not believe in being the second best, be it its non-ferrous metals’ business under Hindalco Industries or cement business under Ultratech Cement for which the tagline is “Bade Iraado Me Jaan Daal De”. It has 47 brands under it. Idea Cellular, ABG’s telecom arm is a major player and reaches where no other telecom services could, I experienced it first hand during my under graduation and I can say that it made my life a hell lot easier. And when it comes to fashion I can blindly trust on Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England, and Planet Fashion, which are all owned by ABG.
How Have I Made an Impact?
Every day I try to be more efficient than I was yesterday, to be a better version of myself, to become the best in whatever I do. “Continuous growth and improvement” has been the mantra of my life. My race is not with anyone else, it is with me only and I have to defeat myself every day, break my own records, set new standards.
So, once upon a time, there was an innocent boy who was very good at academics and didn’t have to work hard to achieve the heights of academics. After 10th boards, he was told by his mother that you should not pursue science as it requires a lot of hard work and you are not of that type. Sailing on waves of good grades in boards and successes in Olympiads, he took up the challenge and told that he will go to IIT because in his eyes an engineer from IIT has immense respect in society and has all the worldly comforts at his foot. So, this boy goes to ‘Kota Factory’. First time living away from home, he cried to come back home but his parents gave him strength and he decided to stick to what he had chosen. First-year goes by, he keeps a good performance and makes his friends his family. Then comes the disaster, even after being in the topmost batch of a very prestigious coaching institute, the boy deviated from his path and started bunking classes to watch movies at cyber cafes with his friends. When 12th boards arrived, he was low on confidence but decided to do whatever he can and not lose hope. Amid the 12th board exams, one of his friends fled away from home due to the feeling of guilt and depression of wasting the whole year and parents hard earned money. Police were all over the boy to find out if he has conspired anything. He managed all this alone without any friends and family. This year the boy couldn’t get into IIT. Decided to give it one more try, got good marks in JEE-Mains and became content that he will get a very good NIT and screwed JEE-Advanced. The fate had something else in mind and his not so good percentage in 12th boards came into the picture and he landed into an average NIT. He decided to make the best out of it and actively participated in Football and street play for women empowerment right from the first year itself. Come the second year, he got his heart broken, and his grades dipped. In the 3rd year the new matured version took over, he decides to improve his grades, his technical prowess and decides to do an MBA at some point of time in his life. Does an internship in a reputed firm, gets a PPO, holds various leadership positions in college and graduates with honors. He turned his life upside down. Works for some time and decides to go for an MBA and is now pursuing Human Resource Management in a premier B-school of the country. During his college time, he performed street plays for Women’s Association of Raipur, volunteered for an NGO MARD (Men Against Rape and Discrimination), organized street talks, marathons and Karate Classes for women empowerment. He is also an active blood donor and he got his greatest satisfaction in life when he could help a child who was fighting a deadly disease. He has recently developed a habit of running and he likes the tranquility he gets from it. He feels energized as he would have already conquered his day even before half of the world wakes up.
